Meet Alexah Gomez

We were lucky to catch up with Alexah Gomez recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alexah, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

Being in a creative groove feels like magic! All the ideas work, the numbers are growing, engagement is high. But keeping a creative mind 24/7 is impossible! Taking self care breaks often to reset my mind and allow new ideas to flow is how I manage a balance. Massages, deep breathing, phone/screen breaks & time outside all work together to make the magic happen. Don’t get down on yourself if you wake up one day lacking yesterday’s fire and motivation. Find what works for you, trust the process and as fast as the creativity seemed to disappear, it’ll return the same way.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Im Alexah Gomez I’m 23 years old and I’ve been the sole founder of AlexahIcedYou since I was 19. AlexahIcedYou is a Toothgem, Grillz, and Teethwhitening business I started 3 years ago while working 2 minimum wage jobs at the same time. From 8:30am-10pm 4-5 days a week I was clocked in hustling but I never stopped working towards more. I knew God had bigger plans for me than working for others rather than pouring into myself. Soon after leaving job #2, the art of Tooth Jewelry revealed itself to me on I kid you not a perfect, sunny, summer day. I then discovered the world of small businesses and creating something for you, BY YOU.

From that day on I was head over heels researching all things toothgems, getting certified, the rules/regulations, and brainstorming math to see if this could actually be a sustainable reality for me. It became an obsession and I wouldn’t stop until I was certified, had every tool imaginable, and began working on family and friends for free.

Since then, at the hands of Gods grace AlexahIcedYou has grown into something way bigger than myself. Offering artistic unique Toothgem sets, Teethwhitening services, and recently I was blessed to add custom Grillz to my service list! The addition of solid gold Grillz has been something I worked long and hard on to bring to the table. Watching AlexahIcedYou blossom right in front of me and also be planted in other people’s gardens is an indescribable gift. A day never goes by where I take this life for granted.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, Alexah 3 years ago was just getting on out there and trying her best. If I could narrow it down to the 3 make it or break it factors that led me to where I am today, these would be them.

#1 Trial and error is about to become your best friend.
#2 Good things come quickly, Great things take time.
#3 Trust Gods plan, he’s not helping with your dreams he wrote them.

For anyone just starting out on their journey of ANY KIND, let’s unpack.

1, Don’t be afraid to try something new, fail, & try again. Trial and error is going to be something very common and necessary to weave through what doesn’t work. The only way to find out the potential of something is to try it and find out! Something’s won’t go the way you planned or workout in the long run but some things WILL. Leading me to point number 2.

2, Finding what will work consistently through all your seasons is difficult but necessary. Some good things work out beautifully in the beginning but as time goes on you cannot rely on them as you once could. Dont jump ship! Stay dedicated and give whatever you’re striving for a real chance to work. Finding those changes that keep your business afloat for longer timespans is what takes you from being good, to great. Stay focused and don’t give up at the first, third, or tenth doubt that infiltrates your mind. This is what you dreamed of.

3, Remove yourself from the circumstance. Yes I said it, remove yourself and give it to God. People ask me how I found success and stay successful, the real answer is I give it all to God. The glory, praise, happy tears, angry tears, frustration, anxiety, success etc its ALL given to God. What we do here is all for his glory and since the moment I gave my life and my business up to God he has made MIRACLES come true. Connections have been made, expired doors are closing and new doors are swinging open, dreams that once felt an lightyear away are coming into fruition at the speed of light. There is no other explanation for my success other than I live for Gods glory and through that I was blessed with a business I can be a vessel through and reach people where they are. Stay the course. The fruit of your effort is coming.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

A year ago I was tied down by the thief of joy; you guessed it, Comparison. I looked around at people who were doing different things as me and seeing different success at a similar part of their journey. Looking back this was completely irrational as I am on my own path, so why be so concerned with what anyone else has going for them? Wish people well, hope that they succeed, but never overly involve yourself with anyone else’s journey. Being yourself and keeping your lane neat and successful is enough in itself.

Keep your head on straight, focus on what your goals are & your daily, weekly, monthly checklist. You can still support others but the only area of control we have is ourselves so do not ever overly concern yourself with other people’s choices, they are not you, you are not them. What is meant to be will be!
