Meet Alexander Thomas

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexander Thomas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alexander, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes from a combination of life experiences and personal drive. I’ve worked in high-pressure environments like firefighting and as an EMT, where there’s no room for cutting corners. You have to be all in, and that mentality carried over into everything else I do. I even lived in my truck for a year to save up for acting school because I believe in putting in the hard work to achieve what you want. Every challenge has taught me resilience and discipline, and I apply that same mindset to my acting career.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m an actor currently focused on expanding my craft and building a career in theatre and film. I’ve studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and I’m currently applying to Juilliard’s drama school. What excites me most about acting is the ability to fully immerse myself in different characters and tell stories that resonate with people on a deeper level. It’s about connecting with an audience and creating something real and memorable.

Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to be part of some incredible projects, including playing Ross in Macbeth and Mr. G in a student adaptation of Bottoms. Each role pushes me to grow as an actor, and I’m committed to constantly honing my skills. My journey hasn’t been easy, from living in my truck to save for acting school to balancing multiple jobs, but every step has been worth it.

Right now, my focus is on expanding my opportunities in both theatre and film, while continuing to train and develop as an artist. I believe hard work and perseverance will lead to exciting new projects and collaborations in the near future.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, adaptability, and discipline. Resilience has been key because pursuing an acting career or any career, really comes with a lot of rejection and setbacks. I learned early on, especially from my time as a firefighter and EMT, that you can’t let those moments define you. You have to keep pushing forward.

Adaptability is another big one. In my work, whether it’s shifting from one role to another or adjusting to different work environments, being able to embrace change and remain flexible has opened up more opportunities than I could have planned for.

Finally, discipline has been essential. From working multiple jobs, living in my truck to save for acting school, and balancing my studies with roles on stage and screen, discipline has kept me grounded and focused on the bigger picture.

For anyone just starting out, my advice is to stay persistent. The road won’t always be smooth, but if you develop these qualities early on, they’ll serve you well no matter what field you’re in. Stay open to learning, be willing to adapt, and don’t shy away from hard work. Each step, no matter how small, moves you closer to your goals.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

One challenge I’m currently facing is getting used to New York City. It’s an incredible place with so much opportunity, but it can also be overwhelming at times. Adjusting to the fast pace, the constant energy, and just navigating the city is something I’m still working on. But at the same time, I feel like NYC is where I’m supposed to be right now. It’s a place that pushes you to grow, and that’s exactly what I need as I continue to pursue my acting career.
