We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alexandra Murrietta. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alexandra below.
Alexandra, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?
I think because I used to do karate for 7 years and kickboxing for 2 years. I used to compete in karate-do competitions when I lived in Ukraine. I have 13 medals and 21 diplomas for my competitions in karate-do. Competing gives me a chance to see what I’m made of…I think sports and martial arts are an excellent way to improve your self-discipline. They train us to set goals, focus on our mental and emotional energies, become physically fit, and to get along well with others.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have 3 YouTube channels, one of them is: DalexVlogs. I film couple videos, vlogs and travel videos with my husband David Murrietta, my 2 other YouTube channels are in Russian language.
I also post lifestyle, fashion and fitness content on my Instagram page: @alexandra.murrietta
Most of my content is dedicated to empowering, inspiring and motivating everyday women who work tirelessly in their daily lives to balance many demanding roles: Student, businesswoman, girlfriend, wife, mother. I love to share fashion styles, lifestyle tips, as well as creative ideas in my videos and posts.
As a social media influencer, I have to consistently create high-quality content. Having to come up with new ideas all the time can create pressure. Creating high-quality content requires a lot of time and effort, but I love it.
Also, I think it is important to be open-minded about critique and improve your work and content all the time. You may not be everyone’s cup of tea but remember that’s ok.
Practicing patience is important. Sometimes negotiating deals with brands can be time-consuming and/or stressful.
As an actress, I always try to push myself, work on challenging screenplays, and explore characters outside of my comfort zone.
My recent acting role was in the independent movie, The Memory Scanner, where I played the role of a neuroscientist, Dr. Alexandrea Sokolov. You can find that movie on Amazon prime. I also worked as a stand-in on several big projects, including American Horror Story, X-Men: New Mutants…
Recently, I announced a change of my last name to Murrietta, which is my husband’s last name. Consequently, I will now be addressed as Alexandra Murrietta. My social media handles, including the Instagram page, changed from @alexandracreteau to alexandra.murrietta.
As part of what looks like a rebranding process, I changed my hair color from blonde to brunette. I love trying out new and different looks and I think it’s a good time for a new look for me.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My three qualities are;
– Courage
– Dedication / Strong work Ethic
– Discipline
If you want to be successful, work hard and never give up. For me, success is defined by being linked with maximizing our own potential and helping other people in a meaningful way while providing the freedom, lifestyle, and experiences that we each desire.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
Well, maybe you would not call it a challenge, but I have decided that this year I want to compete in my first fitness bikini competition.
I am an actress and social media influencer, and it is important for me to always look good even when I am trying to grow some muscles. My previous coaches were giving me bulking meal plans, that only would lead to gaining weight. I understand that some fitness bikini competitors can have a long off season and be able to gain 20-35 lbs during off season, but it’s not for me.
I have already changed 2 online fitness coaches since August and now working with my 3rd one.
I also think that competing will give me more purpose in both my dieting and training. I think it’s always good when you have a reason to train. My diet now is more on point than ever and my workouts more intense. I quit working on what I want to train, and I work on what I need to train.
Now I have clear goals and deadlines and I also think any competition will help with being more accountable to reach your goal by a specific deadline (competition).
I know that once I register for a show, I am committed and have a set date to reach that goal.
For me the biggest benefit of competing is accountability. I love weekly check-ins with my coach…My followers on Instagram know that I am prepping for the show, so I know they will want to see how my body will change. Also, just being seen in the gym when everyone knows you are training for a show, that makes you want to work even harder.
