We recently connected with Alexandra Shulman and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandra , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My strong work ethic stems from my upbringing and responsibilities growing up. As the oldest daughter with two younger brothers, I learned early on the importance of responsibility and reliability, often helping out with their needs and activities.
When I was in high school, both of my parents started working, which meant I took on more household responsibilities and played a significant role in managing our home. Additionally, we had horses and other animals, which required constant care and attention. The demands of caring for them, combined with participating in rodeos, instilled in me a deep understanding of hard work and dedication.
Growing up in this environment taught me to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively, and to approach every responsibility with commitment and determination. These experiences have shaped my work ethic and continue to drive me in all my professional endeavors.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I work in media and communications for a nonprofit organization that provides equine-assisted therapy for veterans with PTSD and their families. My role involves creating engaging online content that helps raise awareness about our mission, connects with our community, and supports our fundraising efforts.
What I find most exciting and special about my work is the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause. Equine-assisted therapy has a profound impact on the lives of veterans and their families, offering them a unique and effective way to heal and find support. Being able to use my skills to amplify this message and support the organization’s goals is incredibly fulfilling.
In addition to managing our online presence, I’m excited to share that we have some new developments on the horizon. We’re planning several upcoming events and initiatives that aim to further engage our community and expand our reach. These events will provide more opportunities for connection, learning, and support, and we’re eager to share more details as they unfold.
Overall, working for BCI allows me to combine my passion for media with my commitment to making a positive impact. It’s a privilege to be part of a team that is dedicated to such a crucial and impactful mission.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey so far, I’ve found that three key qualities have been particularly impactful: hard work, authenticity, and coachability.
Hard Work (Work Ethic): Embracing a strong work ethic has been essential for my progress. It’s not just about putting in the hours, but also about being dedicated, reliable, and committed to delivering quality results. For those early in their journey, my advice would be to approach every task with determination and a willingness to go the extra mile. Consistent effort often leads to significant growth and success.
Authenticity: Being true to yourself and your values is crucial. Authenticity helps build genuine connections and trust, both with colleagues and with the audience you serve. It’s important to stay aligned with your core beliefs and communicate honestly. For newcomers, embracing your unique perspective and strengths can help you stand out and foster meaningful relationships.
Coachability: Being open to feedback and willing to learn from others has been invaluable. Coachability involves listening to advice, being receptive to constructive criticism, and actively seeking opportunities for growth. For those just starting out, seek mentors or experienced professionals who can offer guidance and support. Embracing a learning mindset will help you adapt and improve continuously.
While I’m still early in my own journey and don’t have all the answers, these qualities have certainly guided me and contributed to my development. My advice is to remain committed to these principles, stay curious, and keep striving to improve and grow.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Here’s a response that expresses your interest in collaboration and outlines the type of partners you’re looking for:
Yes, I am definitely interested in partnering and collaborating with others!
I’m particularly keen to connect with individuals and organizations within the equine industry. This includes companies that sell equine-related products, trainers, rescue organizations, rodeo participants, and any other businesses or entities involved in the industry. My goal is to help grow social media presence and enhance online visibility for those who share a passion for the equestrian world.
The Western industry has so much potential to thrive online, and I believe that by working together and leveraging our collective knowledge and networks, we can make a significant impact. I have extensive knowledge of horses and a strong background in media, which I’m eager to apply to support and elevate the presence of others in the industry.
If you’re interested in collaborating or exploring partnership opportunities, please feel free to reach out to me. Let’s connect and see how we can work together to benefit both our endeavors and the broader equine community.
You can contact me directly via email, creosotecowboy@gmail.com, and I’m looking forward to the possibilities!
