Meet Alexandra Walton

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alexandra Walton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alexandra below.

Alexandra, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My Resilience comes from the quality of parenting my mother gave me growing up. She showed me that no matter how hard life gets you can overcome anything. My mother is a woman of faith, and I remember her taking us ( my little sister and I ) to the kingdom hall as a little girl. They would let the children answer questions that the pastor asked, and in using my voice I found that speaking up, and speaking out as my mother always told me it gets you places. What one doesn’t understand it’s ok to ask questions. I kept everything my mother has taught me in mind, and one day I looked around me, and knew that where I was in life at that time I wanted more so I asked myself what is it I really want to do. Allies Homemade Candles and more a.k.a Allies Candles was started a few years ago due to that. I challenged myself to make candles, and it was a hobby for me at first , and then turned into my small business that you see today. I’ve had times where I battle depression, and don’t feel as if I have the energy to get up and make more products or even talk to people. Well I found that my faith beats that depression, and in doing so I was able to keep looking forward no matter how hard I felt the road was or may be. So looking at the many challenges i’ve been through in life I can say I’m stronger than I know, and that’s where my resilience comes from. It comes from what my mother instilled in me, and from the life challenges I”ve been through over the years in which made me who I am today.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

HI,
My name is Alexandra, and i’m an Entrepreneur / Small Business Owner who makes hand crafted Candles, T-shirts, Incense, and much more. Allies Candles was started in 2007 when I was going through a lot in my personal life. In many ways I needed an outlet a positive outlet, and I challenged myself to make candles. It started out as a self challenge that turned into a hobby, and from there it became my small business that you see today. The most exciting thing about what I do is making my customers/ potential customers smile. knowing that my products place a smile on other people faces makes me so happy. I like to test out my own products , and in doing so that helps me design my products for a bigger audience. I take pride in my work, and what I do. I do have an online store that’s Alliescandles.square.site for people to go to, and view my line of products. If there’s a particular candle, incense, t-shirt that one would like made I offer that as well because a personalized gift for oneself or a loved one is priceless.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Wow, I would have to say Change, Gratitude, and Discipline. These are my three power words that stick with me everyday. I chose these three words because I realized that without change you can’t get but so far in life. without gratitude one doesn’t appreciate what they have currently so how can you obtain more if you’re not grateful for what you have now, and Discipline comes in where you have to take the initiative to set aside the time to work , and focus on you and your business in order to get where you’d like to be no matter how hard it may be, and no matter how long it may take. So the best advice I can give to one would be to take a look around you, and ask yourself is this where I see myself or business over the next few years. If the answer to that question is no then reevaluate where you’re in life with said business, and then draw a map with extensions to it placing all of the things you’d like to do/ accomplish, and every day move forward towards those ideas/goals. No one can stop your shine or light except you. Remember why you started , and set the tone for what’s to come as you have the power to rewrite your own journey/ destiny. you got this so keep going. Remember mindset is key so what you tell yourself, and what you believe will manifest itself.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes I’am. I’m looking for like minded individuals who are both already established, and those who are becoming established. The reason being is because being around like minded individuals helps me grow as a person, and as a Small Business Owner/ Entrepreneur, and the same in return for Entrepreneurs/ Small Business Owners all over the world. There are so many grants that one can apply for, coaching one can obtain, and finding the right individuals to work with can be a game changer. I believe in my business, and I look forward to connecting with individuals who are looking to partner or collaborate. I can be reached via email at
