Meet Alexia P. Bullard

We were lucky to catch up with Alexia P. Bullard recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexia P. , so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
During my late twenties, Fibromyalgia decided to bless me with its never-ending presence. I was a few years into my freelancing career at this point, juggling clients while learning how to live with and manage the long list of symptoms that I now dealt with on a daily basis.

It was a frantic, stressful time. Working six or seven days each week, for about eight to ten hours per day, was not uncommon.

During a visit, my best friend insisted I take some relaxation time with a hot shower while she prepared some tea and cannabis for me. This moment really hit hard for me.

I was exhausted, but I wanted to keep going. I had this inherent need to be constantly productive — constantly working, planning, or making money. If I took time to rest or took a day off, it felt as though I was failing at something or being lazy.

It’s very common for people to praise others for being “hard workers” or “workaholics,” even if working so much is detrimental to that person’s mental and physical well-being.

Self-care, as a business professional, is important for the rejuventation, rest, and healing of your mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. By making self-care a priority, you will likely find you experience increased productivity, problem-solving, emotional stability, and improved interpersonal relationships.

By setting aside time for self-care each day, I found improvements in several aspects of my life — including increased work productivity and quality.

I schedule my self-care into my daily calendar, just as I would a meeting or other business obligation. Some of my self-care activities include: crocheting, reading, going for a 15-minute walk to enjoy the chirping birds and warm sunshine, only responding to emails during designated times of the day, reducing the amount of time spent discussing work outside of business hours, using herbal wellness supplements – such as CBD oil, doing 30-minutes of Yoga, and hunting down the best coffee shops in Southern California with my significant other.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I have been a writer for more than twelve years, with nine of them spent running Booklexia Content Marketing and providing freelance digital marketing and content services to businesses across several industries.

There are three tiers of Booklexia monthly marketing packages, and each package includes content marketing strategy and editorial planning, multi-weekly or daily blog posts, social media content, email and SMS marketing, and more.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
A strong sense of self-motivation has been one of the most important and impactful qualities throughout my career. This goes hand-in-hand with my life-long love of learning and knowledge. Every improvement and every expansion of my writing and other skills comes from a genuine passion for it.

How would you describe your ideal client?
Through Booklexia Content Marketing, I provide monthly digital marketing and PR service packages to businesses throughout California, primarily within the pet care, cannabis, food and beverage, real estate and hospitality, and apparel companies.

Clients who are passionate about their industry and their business, but also about helping their customers in a tangible way, are the businesses I like to work with. Those who care about their customers/clients, are always looking for ways to grow, and are big on coffee should take a look at the packages I offer — let’s start a conversation.
