Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexis Chapman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alexis, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

Well for starters, I’m in the Beauty Industry & I also believe that self-care is imperative to mental wellness. Therefore, it’s an integral part of my daily life in that I get plenty of sleep, I have a skincare routine, I like to have quiet time, I pray, exercise, journal, travel & spend time with the people that I love.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a Professional Makeup Artist, I have my own brand of high quality mink lashes, I’m a Brand Ambassador, I’m also an Air BnB host, & an Insurance Broker.

The most exciting part of the beauty industry is meeting people from various walks of life. Also, I love learning about new products & techniques to enhance beauty. I love that women often tell me how they may come in feeling down, but I uplift them through our conversations, & they leave feeling amazing.

My makeup services brand is A1Artistry & my mink lashes are A1Artistry Minks. I will be launching my skincare line in the near future, as I have already trademarked the name, so I’m very excited to continue my jour journey in the beauty industry. Also, I was in the insurance industry 16 years ago & have rejoined as of a few months ago, so I’m excited to help people there as well.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1) Professionalism- Speaking properly & clearly; Maintaining order with scheduling, etc. & Maintaining fairness in my policy.

2) Promptness- I believe in being early or on time at all cost. It should be a rare occasion to be tardy & it should always be communicated if there will be tardiness.

3) Customer Satisfaction- I believe in catering to the needs of my clients. I make sure to ask questions as to properly deliver on their expectations. I keep a clean reputation & a code of privacy & trust with my clients.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The Bible. There is a solution to every problem. The word of God has been proven in my life countless times. One of my favorite scriptures is Romans 8:28 “ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” No matter if things look totally chaotic, there has never been a time that God didn’t turn it around for my good, things always happen for me, not to me.
