Alexis, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
This is something we have all struggle with, whether we are aware of the struggle or not. A huge part of overcoming struggles is first acknowledging your struggles. These are commonly things we I unknowingly avoid. It was first start off as a thought or feeling to do something and often times intrusive thoughts will talk us out of what feels naturally right to us. If you can think back to the time when you were a child those intrusive thoughts were not there. If you had a thought if you had an impulse you acted upon it and life was simple. And when I thought a little deeper, I tried and did more things as a child then as an adult. This became a huge problem. Because I could not identify at what age this began to change. Through self reflection, and real learning, I began to unfold things that were suppressed in order for me to grow up. This is why we can’t identify my struggle or as we call it “imposter syndrome. “ And come to think of it as a child that time did not exist nor did it matter. What I quickly realized Was that all people, are all… well just people. The same struggles fierce and ambition that I have someone else once did. Now what you choose to do with those feelings separates the imposters from the pros. Take a quick assessment of the things you want to be and the people you would like to emulate, they all have a similar start and story. They had a feeling or thought to do something, they overcame struggles and obstacles, and eventually succeeded. The one key is to never give up and eventually what you want will be yours. Once I was able to change my mindset a clearer picture of my future came into focus and that is actually only via purpose. Once you find your purpose it’s impossible for you to be an imposter.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Let’s dive a little deeper shall we? Many people know me as Lexi Love, or just Lexi. I’ve been an active hairstylist for 7 years now. Like many of us, I started to take interest with styling my own hair as a teenager in middle school. I became fascinated with hair products and how they were use to accomplish many versatile looks. This is what I call my experimentation stage. From middle school to my late teens I tried many colors, styles, and cuts. When I had my daughter at 18 I began to carry a different concern for hair all together. It suddenly became precious to me. Previously I had always had plenty of hair so I somewhat took it for granted. It took me seeing the beauty in my daughters hair to understand the beauty in my own. Becoming more experienced with hair behavior and tendencies I became more comfortable doing hair for others. Eventually, I officially began accepting clients in my home. Around this time lace front wigs were HOT NEW styles. She this is what I primarily focused on. Bleaching knots, plucking hairlines, dying, styling, custom wigs and wig placement. This was pivotal because this is when I discovered my love of making people look and feel good. Over the years my child has provide many inspirational pics for styles she wanted. In turn, this helped me do two things: become a better stylist and stay current with trends. This gave me a unique edge that helped build clientele and notoriety. While managing clients, part of your job as a stylist is to listen and understand client concerns. Many of them would mention problems with hair growth, hair retention, and overall hair maintenance for their hair type. This caused me to research ingredients in the products they used often. Unsurprisingly, many hair care products contain harmful ingredients. Such as alcohol and synthesized chemicals many of us can’t even pronounce. This is when I took a huge step in the right direction. I began to reevaluate the products I use for my child as well as myself. Deep down, I always knew there was a problem when constant use of products provided short term results. This is when I came up with the idea to make my very own business. Glammhouse! I formulated my very own all natural hair care brand that showed real results. The line consisted of hair growth serums, growing gels, glammpoo, leave-in-Glamm (conditioner), rose water, and even a lip brightening kit. While using my products on clientele I immediately saw a difference in their quality of hair as well as their growth. Get this, the changes became apparent in as little as 2 WEEKS! Imagine our surprise. Now, we are making history. Word is spreading like a wild fire as more and more people try our products. They have even been approved for safe use on babies and pregnant women by primary physicians. We’ are now working to get our products mainstreamed and in stores near you! Be on the look out and try us for yourself. We cant wait to add to our GlammFamm and to start your healthy hair journey with us!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would like to tell anyone who finds themselves on a journey is to get out of your own way. Allow God into your life and allow him to do all of the things he promises to do. Take action on 100% of things things you fear doing. We tend to reject new ideas or things that seem unfamiliar. We forgetting that’s how we learn. Invite new people, new activities and new ideas in your life. You can’t possibly expect changes doing things you have always done. Change in the direction you want to go. I guarantee each year will look different from the last. Your wants will change. Your environment will change. Eventually, you will notice you have changed as well. If you don’t have a personal reason for doing anything, simply don’t do it. 9 times out of 10, it’s not a part of YOUR purpose. It’s easier to get lost in the lives of friends, family members, peers, and even co workers. Continuously question yourself. Does this serve me in the best way? What do I want to do each day? What do I want to accomplish and by when? Challenging yourself leaves no room for others to challenge you. This in turn cancels all the white noise pushing one to refocus on themselves. The question then becomes, Are you going to win or lose in life? I think we all can answer that.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
My hopes are to meet as many people as I can. Along the way, I have learned money simply can not replace relationships. People are priceless. I want to help as many people as I can. Whether it be my products or services, advise, or collaborations. The greater the people the greater the potential I always say. I want to find my people and that includes fellow hair stylist, designers, entrepreneurs, authors, models, makeup artist, influencers, photographers, videographers, content creators, investors, vendors, merchants, small business owners, apprentices, children, teens, and everyone in between. I’m ready to change the world and make an impact. I can not be only one. If your reading this let’s get to work!
