Meet Alexis Fields

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alexis Fields a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I found my purpose by accident. A few years ago, after giving birth to my son, I experienced a severe mental health crisis. Years of suppressed trauma finally reached a breaking point. I checked myself into a mental institution, seeking understanding and support. What followed was a week of stark reality: cold, sterile rooms, metal cots, and constant surveillance. Instead of celebrating the New Year, I lay staring at the ceiling, grappling with the emotions I’d long ignored.

Through music therapy and one-on-one sessions, I began to heal. But witnessing other patients, many struggling with severe mental illnesses and the side effects of their medications, profoundly impacted me. I realized that many, like me, carried deep-seated pain and trauma. These conversations ignited a desire to use my own experience to help others. My brokenness became the catalyst for my purpose. I poured my experiences into “A Yellow Rose Grew from The Mud,” my self-published memoir.

This led me to expand my reach through a podcast and social media platforms. However, I yearned for a more tangible way to connect with people. This desire led me to enroll in esthetics school at the Elaine Sterling Institute. I believe that true healing extends beyond words. I wanted to offer my clients a sanctuary of peace and rejuvenation, a space where they could experience the same love and compassion that helped me heal.

When people ask how I found my purpose, I say I found myself. I found the deepest pockets of my passion, rediscovering who I am as a woman, more aware of my past and empowered to heal and help others.”

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

As a licensed esthetician and life coach, my current focus is building my brand, “Menbers Only.” This is a men’s aesthetic brand born from my own journey. Menbers Only LLC is an innovative self-care lounge dedicated exclusively to men, offering esthetic skincare and wellness services. Our goal is to cultivate inner peace and tranquility. “Why men?” you might ask. As a mother of a young son, I believe it’s crucial to increase awareness and provide a safe space for men to address their mental health. In today’s challenging world, men’s mental health is often overlooked. I want my son to understand the importance of prioritizing self-care and mental well-being, recognizing the powerful connection between inner and outer well-being.

As an author and a multi-faceted creative, I’m excited to share my journey through writing, media projects, and collaborations in 2025. This includes publishing my second book, an affirmative daily guide offering encouragement, motivation, and tools for navigating life.

As I continue to share my gifts and blessings, my primary goal is to inspire others. I pray that all my creative endeavors will uplift and motivate those who encounter them.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

One of my greatest blessings is discernment. While some consider it a gift, I believe it’s a honed psychological skill. I’ve learned to observe human behavior – their movements, thought patterns, and actions – to anticipate potential outcomes. Secondly I have been blessed with ambition, and the ability to want and need more out of life. To dream BIG, to stay optimistic and know that no matter obstacles life throws my way I will over come them because My God has something better for me. And lastly determination, knowing that something has to happen for the greater good of my life, knowing that I cannot stop and knowing that I have to keep moving because my destiny requires it. As a coparenting mother I know that it is my calling to bring the essence of these qualities to those I encounter by way of my creativity in service to help others, ensuring self love and peace as a lasting impression. For those early on their journey who may feel as though they have tried everything, try God.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I am feeling overwhelmed first and foremost I pray. Life moves fast, the world is moving faster. I intentionally take time to slow down, breathe, center my focus and thoughts to express gratitude for what I have overcome and where I am today. I suggest taking life one day at a time.
