Meet Alexis Louder

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexis Louder. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Alexis with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My mother taught me, through word and example, from a young age to work hard for what I want to gain in life. My mother worked multiple jobs to raise her children and still was very attentive to each of us. She helped us to be diligent in our school work. That diligence help me excel to the point I was taking college courses while in high school. Now, that same work ethic translates into my acting, writing, and producing. I am very thorough in everything I do.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an actress! I also write and produce films. I am currently working on producing a feature that has taken me about 10 years to complete. I am also collaborating with other writers to produce independent projects in Atlanta. The part of what I do that I appreciate the most is bringing life to a story. presenting a new perspective or thought into the mind of the audience. As a producer, I love being able to employ my community. Having roles on and off camera for artist to play and maybe try something they’ve never done before is an amazing feeling.

I also have a workshop on Sept 22 I’m teaching at Drama Inc. I’m giving other actors insight on navigating the different intricacies of being a lead actor. Not just performance, but what you’re responsible for on and off set, outside of the character you play.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Persistance, Protect your boundaries, and it’s not impossible because it hasn’t been done before. I try to persevere through any obstacle. Organizing and compartmentalizing keeps my business running smooth. I remind myself often, “Not everything has to happen right now.” I have also learned to be patient with myself and this business.

My advice is that you respect your “no”. If you used your discernment in deciding that something is not for you, stand by it. This business is too fickle for regrets or taking things personally. Give yourself grace and enjoy what you do!

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?

I think it is good practice to sharpen the tools you have and don’t be afraid to pick up one you don’t use often. You might surprise yourself and others. I have never played piano, but on “The Watchmen” my character plays the piano in the opening. I was terrified, but I embraced the lessons and it was a great experience. I haven’t played a piano since, nevertheless, great experience. 😂
