Meet Alexis Raquel

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alexis Raquel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alexis, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Walking in my purpose feels monumental because so many people are still searching for theirs. In my case, I can truly say my purpose found me. Often, we shy away from what we’re called to do because it’s challenging or doesn’t follow the conventional path. But I’ve known since my teenage years that hairstyling, working in the beauty industry, and teaching were my true calling. When you can do something out of pure love, even without compensation, and constantly find new ways to evolve in it, that’s when you know it’s your purpose. For me, that’s hair, braiding, and educating. My goal is to serve through my gifts, to make people smile and feel confident in themselves—and that’s how I know this is what I’m meant to do.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

.At The AR Experience, named after me Alexis Raquel – whether in beauty, business, or even as a friend or business partner, it’s always an experience. I pride myself on offering excellence in everything I do, and when you leave, you feel poured into—you look better, and you feel better.

I believe self-care should be an inclusive and empowering experience. Clients should relax and enjoy their services in the salon without worrying about preparation; it’s self care so it should feel like it.

My passion and purpose also drives me to provide services to families in need, ensuring everyone has access to quality self-care no matter the budget.

I am also hosting events and workshops to educate the next generation about the beauty industry and empower parents with valuable skills for home care. As a mom, my son motivates me daily to make an impact not just in the beauty world but also within my community.

Since becoming a licensed cosmetologist in 2018 and a cosmetology instructor in 2024, I’ve been committed to providing an all-inclusive beauty experience that uplifts and inspires.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are discipline, authenticity, and purpose.

Discipline has been key to staying consistent, especially on days when motivation runs low. It’s what pushes you to keep going even when things get tough.

Authenticity is crucial because staying true to who I am and what I believe in has allowed me to attract the right clients and opportunities. When you show up as your genuine self, people connect with you in a more meaningful way

Understanding my purpose has kept me grounded and focused. Knowing why I do what I do helps me navigate challenges and stay passionate about my work.

Start focusing on developing discipline through setting small, achievable goals that lead to larger ones. With authenticity, don’t be afraid to embrace who you are and what makes your brand unique. Take time to reflect on your purpose—knowing your “why” will help you stay committed and aligned with your long-term vision.
