We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alexis Williams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alexis below.
Alexis, thank you so much for making time for us today. We’re excited to discuss a handful of topics with you, but perhaps the most important one is around decision making. The ability to make decisions is a key requirement for anyone who wants to make a difference and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your decision-making skills.
Being the oldest of five children, I developed decision-making skills early on because I knew my younger siblings were looking up to me. This responsibility taught me to be thoughtful and intentional in my choices. My grandmother’s advice, “No risk, no reward,” has always guided me to take calculated risks that encourage growth.
Over time, I’ve learned to weigh which risks are worth taking. Most people know me as someone who is very logical—I prioritize making decisions that align with my values and understanding. Before committing to anything, I study facts and patterns from the past to predict future outcomes. For example, when I decided to start my creative agency, I carefully analyzed industry trends and my own skills to determine if the timing was right. This blend of logic and risk-taking has shaped me into the decision-maker I am today.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most impactful qualities in my journey are:
Being highly organized – My paralegal background has instilled a habit of tracking every detail, from to-do lists to talent schedules. Staying organized helps me manage my workload and meet deadlines efficiently.
Being self-motivated – I consistently show up and work on my goals, even when motivation wanes. Passion for what I do fuels my persistence.
Networking – Building genuine connections has opened doors I didn’t even know existed. I believe it’s not just about what you know, but who you know.
Advice for beginners:
Start by writing down your ideas and creating a solid foundation for your business or brand.
Attend local events to network, and don’t be afraid to reach out to people on social media to set up coffee or lunch meetings.
Invest in tools or systems to stay organized—this will save time and reduce stress.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I believe being well-rounded is more valuable because it equips you with knowledge across multiple areas. A business doesn’t operate in a vacuum—it involves marketing, finance, people skills, and more. By learning about different areas, you can build a stronger foundation for success.
For example, as a talent manager, I use my marketing expertise to promote artists, my legal background to handle contracts, and my event planning skills to coordinate showcases. These overlapping skills allow me to run my business more efficiently and effectively.
That said, you should always leverage your strengths as your core foundation while expanding into new areas. A well-rounded approach provides versatility and opens doors to opportunities you might not have considered.
