Meet Alexxis Redd

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexxis Redd. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Alexxis, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
Well I wouldn’t call it taking a risk, I would call it moving off faith in God and what his calling for my life is. Back in January 2022 I was laid off from my assistant designer job with no true plan. The only thing I knew was that God was going to see me through that time of uncertainty and he DID. I was styling prior to being laid off but, the amount of styling opportunities I received after I lost my job couldn’t have been nothing but my faith in God’s purpose for my life. So to answer that question it was God who helped me develop the ability to move on faith and move on that alone.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a wardrobe stylist and costumer with a background in fashion design. My business for my styling is called “Reddstylez” and was established in 2019. I have been styling since I was in college but always had a passion for fashion since I was 8. I also have a new brand that I’m working on called “God is the Blueprint” which is centered in bringing people to Christ. It’s super special to me especially in my journey since losing my job and having to trust in solely him. It is a reminder that God is the foundation to true happiness and purpose.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the biggest of them all especially being an entrepreneur is being a problem solver as well as learning to think quick on your feet. There really is no manual to being the perfect entrepreneur, it can be trial and error at times. The best advice I could give is to just TRY. As long as you are trying and learning along the way, your best effort will reap results. Be consistent. Seek God in your business and finances as well, he will make light of your path.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Before I lost my job as an assistant designer I would sit at my desk and listen to all kinds of different audiobooks and podcasts. It became my thing everyday coming to work. The books I would read would be about business or self help. The first book I read when I started my “audio book” journey was “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”. That book shifted something in me. It made me even more than ever realize that all it takes is one idea or one of your gifts to take you further than you could ever imagine. The quote that stuck out to me the most was “Money is only an idea”.
