Meet Alicia Fiammetta

We were lucky to catch up with Alicia Fiammetta recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

I live by the Golden Rule: treat everyone the way you want to be treated. It’s a simple but effective way to stay positive. Keeping a positive mindset has truly shown to create a positive life. I try to practice positive thinking throughout each day. Prayer, meditation, and affirmations have played a huge role in my mindset training and staying optimistic.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Before I started Unity Cheer, my primary focus was on my business, Magha Yoga, where I helped adults become more self-aware. When I moved to my current neighborhood, they were looking to offer more activities for kids. I received an email from a neighbor asking if I could run a cheerleading class since I was a college cheerleader. I decided to give it a try.

Unity Cheer has grown immensely in just two years. Last year, our competition team won the National Championship! Our cheerleaders were also invited to perform at the South Bay Lakers Halftime Show and the LA Clippers Primetime Show. While these accomplishments are wonderful, the most amazing thing for me is witnessing these children, backstage and terrified because they are about to perform in front of thousands of people, not back down. They face their fear and conquer it, and when they are done, their confidence is through the roof!

It’s incredible because when I started my yoga business, my goal was to help people conquer fear and become more confident. It’s truly come full circle, though I never dreamed it would manifest in this way. I am so grateful for this journey and the opportunity to empower these young girls!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Reflecting on my journey, I believe three key qualities have been instrumental: perseverance, adaptability, and empathy.

Perseverance was crucial in overcoming challenges, both in starting Magha Yoga and growing Unity Cheer. There were times when progress felt slow or obstacles seemed too big, but staying persistent allowed me to keep moving forward.

Adaptability has also been essential. Shifting from running an online business to leading a cheerleading program required a lot of adjustment. Being open to change and eager to learn new skills helped me navigate these transitions and embrace new opportunities.

Empathy has been invaluable in connecting with my clients and students. Creating a supportive and understanding environment has helped build strong relationships and trust, which are vital for the success of both ventures.

For those just starting out, my advice is to embrace these qualities.

Success often requires sustained effort and resilience. When faced with challenges, remind yourself of your long-term goals and keep pushing forward, even when things get tough.

Be open to change and willing to step out of your comfort zone. The ability to adapt and learn from new experiences is crucial in our rapidly changing world. Stay curious and proactive in acquiring new skills and knowledge.

Develop empathy in your interactions with others. Take the time to listen and understand the perspectives and needs of those you work with. Building strong, empathetic relationships will not only enhance your personal growth but also contribute significantly to your professional success.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

I love reading mental science books from authors like Thomas Troward, Carnelian Sage, Emile Coue, Neville, and David Hawkins. However, the most valuable book I’ve read is The New Testament. “Let all that you do be done in love.”
