Meet Alicia Underwood

We recently connected with Alicia Underwood and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Alicia with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Both of my parents are hard workers and have been my entire life. We lead by example in our family, and I can’t remember a time when either parent called in sick from work. My dad is an entrepreneur and always instilled in me to follow my heart but that you have to work for what you want. I was helping my grandmother run a cookie business inside a tearoom at age 4!

My mom was the tour assistant for B.J. Thomas at his height of his singing career, and she traveled around with him and his team. I inherited that sense of adventure and have been taught to think outside the 9-5 box.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an actress living in Los Angeles and recently joined the Emerging Leaders Advisory Board for Imagine LA. A nonprofit dedicated to serving Los Angeles families and fighting homelessness. I love people and have a strong calling to serve others. So, while I am not filming, I volunteer at Imagine LA.

I am definitely excited about the premiere of ‘House of Dolls’ which is a horror/slasher I am a main character in, expected to be released this year. I think I will pick up TikTok again this summer and create content. I have a creator friend who is also a BOMB makeup artist I enjoy making videos with.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
For actors –

1. Forming high-quality relationships in our Industry is paramount. Now that we are post-Pandemic, I like to attend Industry events/panels/summits, etc. frequently.

2. Staying up to date on current news. Read the Trades (Deadline, Hollywood Reporter, Variety) I have Variety delivered to me weekly.

3. Skill development. As my acting coach Max Decker says, “auditions should not be your acting class.” You definitely need to find a good acting class that challenges you and simultaneously makes you feel at home. You need to find your “people.”

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking to collab! I work with Influencers, other actors, MUA, podcasters, event hosts, artists, singers, etc.

We find each other most commonly through Instagram and TikTok which you can find me on both handles @aliciarunderwood
