Meet Alicia Washington

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alicia Washington. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Alicia, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from watching my mother work her butt off to provide what we needed without complaining. She made it look so easy taking care of myself and my sister. and then when I was old enough to understand, I saw what she was enduring even through the bad.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Learning all of the different skills that go with sewing and being creative. As well as all the different birthing techniques that helps moms get through birth. It takes research and learning all you can learn so that you are an overall great resource for your clients. Take your time to learn your skill to its full potential and when you do, then still find was to get more educated so that you are alway knowledgable.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
My challenge this year has been keeping a constant flow of clients. I would have some months that would be great and then like 4 or 5 that would be absolutely nothing. I also had challenges with clients not keeping up their end of our agreement. Instead of speaking with me to try and work something other than what was originally agreed upon, they would just ghosted me altogether. To the point, I had to switch my policy around to get the majority, if not all funds upfront before supplies or work has been started.
