Meet Alionna Alston

We were lucky to catch up with Alionna Alston recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alionna, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

Experience keeps my creativity flowing. I am not a sit and brainstorm kind of person. My best ideas come from the things I go through and people around me. Traveling to new places, new foods, music, podcast etc opens up your perspective which broadens the range of your creativity. I like to think big, dramatics. I am very bold and vibrant person and that shows through my work. The goal for me whether it’s creative directing, writing or hosting an event is to leave an experience.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Project Pink Atlanta was created to provide Networking and social events for women seeking guidance, mentorship, and resources to navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship. As a boss mom myself I understand entrepreneurship includes juggling your businesses with everyday life so I created a space where you can not only network, but let loose and enjoy yourself. As an event curator and entrepreneur I often think of the opportunities and events I would have wanted to attend starting out.

The goal for Project Pink is more than fellowship and networking but to create a
sisterhood. A community that pours into other women as well. What is true success if you are not creating opportunities for the women to come next ? A real boss is a Leader. A major part of project pink is Community service. One of the main organizations I partner with as a domestic violence survivor is “A Girl like me Inc. “ created by Ashley Jordan. My goal is to expand from one nonprofit and offer 20% of each events profit to a different women based charities every event.

Currently working on a few new projects that I’m excited to share. Pink pages launch will be my next event this upcoming fall with live interviews on Project Pink and Friends. Pink Pages will be the yellow pages for women owned businesses in Georgia. I’ve decided to tap back into the original ways of marketing with printed books available this fall in your local salon suits, doctors offices, office lounges and more. This launch with have some amazing workshops, vendor stations for listed businesses, new partnerships and more stay tuned.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The main quality I would say is “Discipline” because it allowed me to stay on track with my goals no-matter how life twisted or turned. This required me to master time management by setting up routines and habits that helped me maintain focus. Consistency is key you will not always be motivated but when you have structured your business into your daily lifestyle it becomes easier when things get difficult or overwhelming.

Second is “Journaling”. I like to keep track of everything so I can look back and see my progress. See what is working and what needs changing. Paying attention to your strengths and weaknesses will help you set better goals to help scale your business. Also looking back can also motivate you to go harder seeing how far you have come and how much further you can take things.

And lastly “Faith”. Things will not always go as planned. Embrace the ups and downs of your journey. Experience is your biggest teacher. Believe in your brand and always remember your “why” ! Believe in your capabilities of fulfilling your dreams.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

There is so much power in collaborations. I love to partner with like minded women and help create a experience. So much we can learn from one another and nothing like cross networking communities to make a larger impact. Looking to work with other women entrepreneurs such as but not limited to grant writers, business coaches, marketing and branding strategist, content creators, motivational speakers, business credit, book keeping, event planners, non profits and more so if your reading this please email me at [email protected]
