We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alireza Teremah a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alireza, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
I think being the only one in the room that looks like you shouldn’t be viewed as a disadvantage but instead, as a huge opportunity to stand out. It allows you to bring a unique perspective and set of experiences that others might not have. If you confidently show your individuality and leverage it to your advantage, it can be a powerful tool for success and you can even inspire others to do the same.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Of course. Even though I am still continuing the Rapture Mind events, which have had a huge impact on the city’s entertainment scene, my main focus now is on my musical career as ALIRZA. Creating music is something I never get tired of because it allows me to express my personal feelings in a way I don’t typically do in conversations. Each song I create shares a real-life story that I experienced and has had an important impact on me. By the time this interview is released, my single “Make No Sound” will have dropped, and I will be working towards an EP that reflects the past few months of my life. This new direction in my career is really exciting, and I can’t wait to share my journey with all of my friends, family, and supporters.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the most important qualities that I’ve learned on my journey have been determination, humbleness, and obsession. It’s crucial to be able to self-isolate and dedicate your full time to something you love, pushing through obstacles to stay focused on your goals. Being humble means being willing to learn from your peers and setting aside your pride. During times of struggle, it’s important to be open to doing free work to gain valuable experience and insights. Humbleness also means not getting carried away by success and continuing to move forward with the same level of effort and dedication. And most important is being overly obsessed with your goals. It’s about trying repeatedly after failure because you are driven by a deep passion to achieve your objectives. Let your obsession with your goals drive you to keep trying, even in the face of failure. These qualities will be your foundation for success.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Hahah, there are many talented artists I would love to collaborate with, including many friends in the industry that I haven’t had the chance to collab with yet. Alex Parsa and VNO are like brothers to me, and I always enjoy collaborating with them; our chemistry shows in the songs we’ve released together already. There are also some artists who inspire me that I would like to collaborate with down the line, such as The Kid Laroi, Don Toliver, and my good friend Autumn!.
