Meet Alisha Joy Arguello

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alisha Joy Arguello a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alisha Joy, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

The truth? I haven’t fully overcome it—I’m navigating it in real time.

I used to think imposter syndrome was something you “beat” once and for all, like a final boss in a video game. But what I’m realizing is that it shows up every time you expand into something bigger. Right now, I’m in that space again—stretching beyond what I’ve built so far.

I’ve spent years building businesses—running a luxury consignment shop, expanding into estate services and real estate. And while I’m still in the building phase, I know I’m on the path. The momentum is real. I can feel things shifting as I step into a new level—not just in business, but in mindset, leadership, and how I show up in the world.

That’s where imposter syndrome creeps in. Who am I to lead in this space? Shouldn’t I have it all figured out first?

But I refuse to measure myself only by my highest achievements. Because the truth is, I am not just the results I produce. I am a creative, innovative, brave, spunky, loud visionary woman. I am a match to a frequency beyond abundance. PERIOD.

Imposter syndrome would have me believe that I should wait—wait until I’ve arrived, until I have the perfect success story, until I can tie everything up with a neat little bow. But I know better. Growth doesn’t wait for permission. And if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s bet on myself even before the evidence catches up.

I am inside the story I’ll lead from later. I’m really enjoying extracting the wisdom from full-circle moments in my life. And that means my only job is to live it fully, right now, in real time. To step into the unknown, embrace the discomfort, and trust that the version of me who already knows how to do this is waiting on the other side.

So instead of waiting for imposter syndrome to disappear, I’m using it as proof that I’m evolving. Every time I feel that doubt, I anchor back into my unshakable truth—I am here to create, to innovate, to elevate. I am not available to make myself vibrationally poor on the path of creating a world-changing movement.

I am here to inspire people to buy secondhand first, to love what they purchase, and to create a closet and home that lights them up—not just one that follows trends. But even beyond that, I want to inspire people to trust themselves, to cultivate unshakable inner confidence, and to believe that they are enough exactly as they are. Because when you truly own who you are, imposter syndrome loses its grip.

And if you’re feeling imposter syndrome right now, take this as your permission slip—you don’t need to have it all figured out. You just have to start.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m the co-owner of Refashion, a luxury consignment shop that’s become a destination for those who want to shop sustainably without sacrificing style. What excites me most about Refashion is the way we challenge the idea of secondhand fashion—it’s not just about thrift; it’s about high-quality, carefully curated pieces that tell a story and allow people to buy in alignment with their values.

Our brand is deeply rooted in a philosophy of sustainability and mindful purchasing, which goes hand-in-hand with the services we offer. In addition to running Refashion, I’ve expanded into estate services and real estate, a business that’s picking up incredible momentum in our area. We work closely with families to help them downsize, manage estates, and maximize the value of their belongings, all while integrating conscious living into every transaction.

What makes my work special is that I’m not just creating businesses—I’m creating a movement. A movement that empowers people to live with intention, make bold decisions, and approach wealth and success in a way that feels expansive, not limiting. This includes everything from secondhand fashion to personal growth, to fostering the kind of mindset that opens doors to limitless possibilities.

As I continue to expand and grow, I’m stepping into a new role as a mindset and wealth expansion mentor. I want to help others break free from limiting beliefs, step into their fullest potential, and design lives and businesses that are authentic to who they are.

There’s so much coming up for me in the next few months, including potential speaking opportunities and new content around mindset, growth, and business. Stay tuned, because I’m just getting started!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three Most Important Qualities, Skills, and Areas of Knowledge

Looking back on my journey, there are three qualities and skills that have been especially impactful in my growth:
1. Building Strong Relationships and Trust – Whether it’s with customers, clients, or colleagues, being relational and genuinely connecting with people has been foundational to my success. Trust is everything, and creating meaningful connections is at the heart of every business I run. My advice for anyone early in their journey? Focus on truly understanding and valuing the people around you—building trust doesn’t happen overnight, but it’s a game-changer.
2. Embracing Boldness in Marketing – I’ve always been willing to take risks and try new things, especially when it comes to marketing. Social media, in particular, has been a powerful tool for growing my businesses. I pushed myself to be bold, creative, and constantly experiment with new strategies. For those just starting out, don’t be afraid to try new things—even if it feels uncomfortable at first. Your audience is out there, and they will connect with your authenticity.
3. Staying Authentic and True to Myself – Above all, I’ve always made it a point to remain authentic in everything I do. Whether I’m interacting with clients or sharing my story online, I never try to be anything other than myself. Speaking my truth has not only helped me build a loyal community, but it’s also given me the confidence to keep pushing forward, even when imposter syndrome creeps in. My advice? Don’t try to fit into anyone else’s mold—stay true to who you are, because that’s where your real power lies.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

In the beginning, I believe it’s best to go all in on what lights you up—on the things, ideas, and activities that genuinely excite you. The things that you can’t stop thinking about or talking about. For me, this has always been the creative and sales sides of business, the areas that make me feel energized and alive.

However, as you grow, you start to realize that there’s a lot of value in becoming more well-rounded. Over time, you may discover that areas you once thought were tedious or out of your realm of interest, like budgeting, spreadsheets, and financial management, can actually become empowering when you shift your perspective.

I never thought I’d be passionate about the “money stuff.” In fact, I used to avoid it. But once I understood that I am in control of it all, that there’s an energy to money and that it’s all energetics, my mindset shifted. Now, the money side of my business is where I want to spend a lot of my time. I’ve learned to catch my own scarcity blocks and see where my team and others struggle with it as well. I now create space for abundance to flow freely, and I know that I’m capable of not only managing the numbers but truly allowing the wealth to come in.

So, while it’s important to play to your strengths, I also think it’s crucial to remain open to learning and evolving in areas that might not have been your first love. You never know how a shift in perspective can unlock new layers of growth and opportunity.
