We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alison Altrui a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alison, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I’ve always loved taking photos since as far back as I can remember. I also studied early childhood education in college and have always loved working with kids since babysitting as a teen. I’ve worked in daycares and schools and always enjoyed my time with the children. So by becoming a photographer I got to incorporate my love for photography, my early childhood education background and working with children!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a maternity, newborn, milestones and family photographer in Northeast Ohio. I focus on providing a stress free process by providing outfits for your family, picking out the prettiest locations or setting up the studio and bringing on the fun!!! Bring yourself, your kids with full bellies and well rested and get ready for some games with your family while I capture the beauty of your family for you to view forever!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the three most impactful things that have helped me on my journey is a background in early childhood education, being a mother of two children and ready motivational, educational and money block books.
My advice for those who are starting out would be to use your background and invest in your education.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal clients are mothers who want to capture the beauty of their family now. They understand that time slips by so quickly and kids change in the blink of an eye. So we need to photograph how they are now and often. They’re also laid back and fun. They get kids will be kids and sometimes that means wanting to run around and explore and that’s okay. They know they can relax and interact with their family and I’ll handle the directions, games and playing to create your beautiful photos.
