Meet Alison Cabanillas

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alison Cabanillas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alison, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I developed my confidence and self-esteem through both personal healing and overcoming my own rock bottoms. Growing up, mental health wasn’t something openly discussed in my family, so I had to navigate difficult emotions and situations on my own. Going through those low points and being able to pull myself out using practices like Reiki, meditation, and sound baths gave me a deep sense of confidence. I realized that if I could heal myself and rebuild my life, I could help others do the same. Now, I’m able to guide people through their own struggles, offering the same tools that helped me. Each time I see someone else thrive through these practices, it reinforces my belief in the power of healing and in myself.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m extremely passionate about helping people find themselves and heal. At treatment centers for drug and alcohol abuse, I guide Reiki and Soundbath groups, helping clients relax, rewire their minds, and explore their belief systems and habits. We work on healing, understanding the chakra system, and discovering tools to reconnect with themselves on a deeper level. Watching people tap into their own potential and start their healing journey is something I feel honored to be a part of.

Beyond that, I run a mobile business where I bring these healing practices to people’s homes. I offer 1:1 or couples sessions, and I love doing Reiki and Soundbath parties for events like corporate gatherings, birthdays, bachelorette parties, and baby showers. It’s amazing to see how these practices create space for relaxation and connection in any setting.

I’ve also started hosting ceremonial circles in different parts of LA, collaborating with others in the wellness industry. These circles connect people to beautiful traditions, introducing them to natural medicines like body movement and plant medicine. It’s all about creating spaces where people can gather, learn, and heal together.

In addition to all this, I upload videos on YouTube to help people start their day on a positive note or unwind at night. Whether it’s through morning meditations or calming practices before bed, I want to make sure people have accessible tools to incorporate mindfulness and healing into their daily routines.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, I think the three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey were communication and customer service, trusting my intuition, and always being eager to learn. When it comes to communication, it’s about more than just talking—it’s about genuinely connecting with people. Whether it’s through collaborations or working with clients, it’s important to understand how you can truly help someone and improve their life, rather than just trying to sell them something. People appreciate authenticity, so learn to speak from a place of care and service.

Another key skill is learning to trust your intuition. Pay attention to what feels like a ‘hell yes’ in your body. That inner knowing will guide you in the right direction, whether it’s the decisions you make or the opportunities you pursue.

Lastly, never stop wanting to gain knowledge. Stay open to learning and listening, because you don’t know everything—and that’s okay. The more you embrace growth, the more you’ll discover about yourself and your passions. My advice for anyone early in their journey is to get clear on what you’re passionate about and build from there. Be genuine in your interactions, and always stay curious and open to learning.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m definitely looking to connect and collaborate with others who offer different healing modalities. I’m passionate about expanding beyond Reiki and Soundbaths to explore what other tools we can provide to help people on their healing journeys. Whether it’s through workshops, events, or ceremonies, I’m excited to bring together various practices. For example, I could offer Reiki Soundbaths or lead a cacao ceremony, while others guide us through dance, movement, or any wellness-related activity. Whether it’s a speaker event or a more interactive experience, I’m eager to collaborate with those who are equally passionate about teaching and sharing tools for personal growth and wellness.

I’d also love to connect to my Mexican roots. If there are people out there with traditions or ancestral practices, I would love to learn from them and help bring those teachings to more people. If this resonates with you and you’re interested in collaborating, I’d love to connect!
