We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alison Cronin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alison , so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
I have always been the type of person to take risks and go after what I want. Sometimes, it gets me into trouble, but other times, I end up happier than ever because I took the risk. I genuinely feel that we can have whatever we want in life, and that almost always involves taking risks. Whether it is leaving a job we are unhappy at, a city we no longer want to live in, or making a decision by following our heart, risk-taking is crucial to living a life of excitement and happiness. I took a huge risk by moving my life to Los Angeles. This risk was fueled by a burning passion for my career and the goals I have set for myself. Without risk, there is no reward!
When I look at situations, I consider both the positive and the negative outcomes. I try my best to focus on the positive while ensuring I don’t get my hopes up too high and prepare myself for the “worst”. I strive to be realistic in my choices, even if they involve huge risks. You don’t know until you try and who cares if the grass isn’t greener! We are in control of our lives, and if jumping ship means even a small chance of happiness and peace, then I say do it.
I often feel that once I get too comfortable, I find myself taking a leap of faith into the unknown and I have found that this keeps me consistently learning new things. I tend to live a lot of my life through trial and error. Although failure can be hard, I try my best to pull the positives from each situation and find what I can learn from it. Risk-taking is scary, but I believe it is so necessary to live the life you want.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Currently, my primary focus is on my company, All in Bloom Floral Design Studio. Beyond that, I’m deeply invested in my journey within the entertainment industry, advocating for mental health and my commitment to supporting the homeless community.
What excites me most about floral design is its profound role in people’s lives, spanning from all kinds of occasions like baby showers and weddings to more solemn moments like funerals. Being entrusted to create something beautiful and meaningful for every milestone of a persons life is both humbling and exhilarating. Each opportunity allows me to create unforgettable moments in people’s lives, which I find incredibly fulfilling.
At All in Bloom, our brand revolves around crafting bespoke experiences and designs for weddings and events. We prioritize teamwork, inclusivity, and exceptional customer service in every project we undertake.
Currently, we are actively involved in community volunteering efforts, particularly in supporting the homeless community, mental health and LGBTQ organizations. This initiative represents an important step for us as we strive to give back to causes that resonate deeply with my personal values.
My passion lies in supporting those in need and enriching their lives through art, reminding them of the beauty that surrounds us all. I am excited for the ongoing journey of growth, impact, and creativity that lies ahead, both with our valued clients and within our community this year.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, I believe three qualities have been particularly impactful: creativity, resilience, and empathy.
Firstly, creativity has been essential in my role as a floral designer and in navigating the entertainment industry. t’s about constantly innovating and finding unique ways to express ideas and emotions through my work.
Secondly, resilience has played a crucial role, especially in the face of challenges and setbacks. Whether navigating challenging business decisions or overcoming personal obstacles, resilience has been my anchor, reminding me to keep moving forward with my goals.
I’ve come to understand that resilience is not just about bouncing back quickly but also about learning and growing through hardship. It took time for me to grasp this concept fully—to learn how to move forward and stay committed to my goals despite obstacles. Embracing feedback, whether positive or constructive, has been huge in concentrating my skills and approaches. It’s about keeping a positive mindset even in difficult times.
Thirdly, empathy has been very important in understanding and meeting the needs of clients, as well as in my community involvement efforts. It’s about listening actively, understanding perspectives different from my own, and responding with compassion. At times, I’ve found myself putting too much emotion into situations, both personally and professionally. Learning to balance empathy has been a significant but a necessary journey for me. It’s about understanding when to empathize deeply and when to maintain professional boundaries, ensuring that emotions enhance rather than hinder decision-making and relationships. This is one quality I have struggled with but I am slowly implementing it into my every day life.
For those early in their journey, I would encourage focusing on developing creativity through exploration and collaboration, building resilience by embracing challenges as opportunities for growth, and cultivating empathy while learning to manage emotional involvement effectively. These qualities not only contribute to personal and professional success but also enable meaningful connections and contributions to your chosen field and community.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Recently, I finished reading “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, an amazing book for aspiring entrepreneurs and anyone interested in understanding the path to wealth, however they define it. The book dives into the mental strategies behind success and features stories of iconic figures like Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and John D. Rockefeller. Their journeys and resilience have been truly inspiring to me.
There are several key lessons I’ve taken from this book, which I plan to revisit multiple times to fully absorb all of the information and philosophies it presents. Hill explains that successful individuals take proactive steps towards their goals instead of waiting for opportunities. This mindset has encouraged me to act quickly on my ideas, whether it’s researching a new ventures, setting goals, or simply taking the leap, regardless of how ambitious it may seem…
Relative to the previous philosophy, another lesson I have learned is about decision-making. Hill argues that successful people make decisions promptly and confidently. As someone who tends to be indecisive, I’ve taken this advice to heart in both my personal and professional life, working towards trusting my instincts and avoid overthinking.
Lastly, Hill stresses the importance of continuous learning and growth. Successful individuals are lifelong learners, always seeking to acquire new skills and knowledge. Despite my 11 years in the floral industry, I know there is so much to learn. I actively seek advice from my peers, ask questions, and embrace collaboration. I make sure I am always keeping an open mind to others ideas around me while still staying true to my own ideas and values.
In conclusion, “Think and Grow Rich” has been significant in shaping my approach to entrepreneurship and personal development. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in shaping their outlook on success and wealth.
