Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Allen Laughlin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Allen , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from a place of contrast; I know what it feels like to have very little, and I know the difference it makes when someone chooses to give. My faith has also shaped me to live open-handed, to see resources not as mine to keep but as tools to bless others. That mix of experience and conviction fuels my desire to be generous with all I’ve been given.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As Founder and CEO of Integrity Electrical, I provide residential and commercial electrical services throughout the Pittsburgh area. What excites me most is taking something as technical as electrical work and turning it into peace of mind for families and businesses; knowing their homes and spaces are safe, reliable, and built to last.
What makes Integrity Electrical special is right in our name: integrity. For me, it’s not just about wiring and panels, it’s about building trust, doing the job right the first time, and treating people with respect. I take pride in being a craftsman, but even more in being someone my community can count on.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three things stand out. First is work ethic: showing up consistently and being willing to do the hard work no one else wants to do. Second is problem solving: in electrical work, and in business, there are always challenges, and learning to think creatively and not get discouraged has been huge. Third is integrity: staying true to my word, doing the job right even when no one is watching, and building trust over time.
For anyone just starting out, my advice is to focus less on shortcuts and more on foundations. Show up every day ready to learn, take pride in your work, and don’t second-guess yourself. Stay humble enough to ask questions, and don’t compromise your character. Skills can be taught, but your reputation will follow you everywhere you go.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
The person who has been most helpful to me is my wife. She’s been my constant support system, encouraging me when I doubted myself, reminding me of my strengths, and pushing me to keep going when things got tough. She sees the bigger picture, helps me stay grounded, and has believed in me from the very beginning. Having someone who truly has your back makes all the difference when you’re building something from the ground up.
