We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Allen Thomas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Allen below.
Hi Allen, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Coming from a broken home, one thing that I was confident in as a young man growing up, was that I didn’t belong.
Whether it was at school, playing in the neighborhood, or being around family, I never truly felt like I belonged.
Fast forward to adulthood, some years later, I’m still fighting to find confidence on a day to day basis.
Most days, it’s gone away with a few deep breaths and a simple prayer. Other times, I am wallowing in doubt and despair, looking in the mirror, struggling to know what I should do next.
It’s in those moments that pressure seems to build a wall high over me which I cannot scale, even with my best efforts, it’s there that I know I need to encourage myself. Remember where I’m come from, what I’ve been through, and most importantly that I’m not alone.
As a Judeo-Christian, I know where my help comes from, but I also realize that I’m very much a work in progress.
Reaching deep into the faith which I so desperately depend upon is what allows my confidence and self-esteem to be built up,

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I spend my time pushing hope over rhymes.
I have been writing and recording music for well over 20 years with nearly 400 songs to date in my catalog with more to come!
I’ve worked with a variety of other creatives in the music space.
You can find me on music platforms by searching Allen Thomas or Sermons Over Beats.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Selectively choosing who you lend your ear to is very important. Who you surround yourself with matters. Those in your company will always have a strong connection to building or breaking your confidence. Choose wisely.
Speak to yourself. Encourage yourself. It’s okay to talk to yourself in the mirror. Don’t worry who’s listening or watching, get yourself right. For me, I would highly recommend and compel you to seek the God of the Holy Bible and find your confidence in your creator.
Be creative. Be yourself. Think outside of the box. Don’t cookie cut or look to mimic the work of others. Be original.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Holy Bible, obviously the pillar of my faith foundation, especially the book of Proverbs. Each chapter providing wisdom and direction. The book of Psalms was instrumental in showing me the beauty of expressing myself poetically,
