Meet Allen Thomas

We recently connected with Allen Thomas and have shared our conversation below.

Allen Thomas, so happy to have you with us today. You are such a creative person, but have you ever head any sort of creativity block along the way? If so, can you talk to us about how you overcame or beat it?

Creatives are mostly known for being introverts, and while that is a great advantage for them to be focused without distraction once in creation mode, it has been my personal observation that most creatives will reach a block after putting out content so consistently, that they reach a place of burnout.

There are so many things that can cause a creative to hit a wall, no pun intended.

In the current culture, creatives are urged to post relevant content daily on what seems to be a never ending amount of online platforms. The immense pressure can be overwhelming for many creatives that don’t have the support of a creative team around them to push their vision.

I have personally found that there are times when I have overbooked myself in the area of being creative, with too much time spent creating and not actually living, that I experience burnout and hit a writer’s block. I purposely started allowing time to reflect and even a time to do nothing, so that my creative juices could be inspired to make something new.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an independent songwriter and rapper.

I have been writing and recording music for over 25 years, under different aliases, now going by the name of Allen Thomas, which is my first and middle name.

I became what is considered a gospel artist, a Christian rapper, after surrendering my life to Jesus Christ in 2009. Since then, I have released 29 projects, with over 320 songs on all digital streaming platforms, with music currently releasing on a weekly basis for the 2nd calendar year in a row. Tune into my social media platforms and follow for weekly releases!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I encourage you to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the son of God, through the Judeo-Christian faith. I would have thrown in the towel, lost purpose and given up, if it weren’t for the healing, strength, peace and comfort that came from the words of the Bible and knowing God on a personal level as Savior.

One of the biggest keys to remaining focused on any journey in life is keeping the main thing, the main thing. Put the goal or mission somewhere that you can easily be reminded, because believe it or not, you need that reminder. There will be frustration, mistakes, failures, but stay motivated and do not give up.

You are your biggest critic, so when you fail, do not beat yourself up. When you make a mistake, do not let it cause you to become discouraged within yourself. Your determination to quickly push past shortcomings is very much needed to keep you on course. Forgive yourself and learn from your mistakes. Celebrate your successes in every part of your journey.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am always looking to work with up and coming independent artists. There’s enough of a crowd already surrounding the renowned celebrities in the creative space.
If you are looking to work with me, I am open to learning about you and your passions and collaborating on a project, as long as we are on the same page.

Please follow and contact me directly on any of my social media platforms.
