We were lucky to catch up with Allison Aldrich recently and have shared our conversation below.
Allison, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Finding my purpose has been a journey. I honestly do not know that anyone ever has a final feeling of having found their purpose. Our purpose is ever evolving. When I was a young teenager, God radically changed my life. In that moment, I found a purpose that was crystal clear. To share His love with other people. I wanted others to experience the love and joy that I was given.
In songwriting, however, there was one specific instance where I knew that my purpose was bigger than just singing the songs I had written in church. I was writing my first song, Rapture Me, and kept feeling a rap beat swirling around in my head. It just kept going and going in the hallways of my mind, echoing for days. I finally put a pen to paper and started writing out a rap. I had never been a rap fan. Rap, to me, used to sound equivalent to nails on a chalkboard. It was odd that I, of all people, would feel the need to write a rap.
I knew the moment I finished writing my rap portion that this song was not just for the walls of the church, but for other people, and that I needed to take it to the studio. My original rap I occasionally perform when singing the song, but I invited a family friend, Maurice McDavid, on board. He wrote a rap from my viewpoint to go along with the song, helping create the flow needed for him to record it and do it well.
During this song, I also wanted an acoustic cello sound, but I could not find a cellist. So I found a cello on Marketplace, bought it, and played it for hours over three days. I was raised as a violin player, but this was my first time really playing a cello. I taught myself in those three days what I needed to learn for my song. My arms were so sore and felt on fire. On the third day, it was my final recording session at Rock Solid Studio. I sat in the studio with my new cello straddled and briefly prayed to God that my playing would not be squeaky.
Rapture Me began a journey of songwriting and releasing my own original music. My music has been streamed millions of times globally and has reached the hearts of so many through ministry. Sometimes God gives you a song, and sometimes He takes the battles you have been through and uses them to minister to someone else.
Through this journey of songwriting and releasing music, God has continued to open doors for leading worship at conferences, worship events, and local ministry opportunities. It has also led me into teaching music. I began teaching music a couple of years ago and discovered that I love teaching. I currently teach music full time for grades 1 through 7, and I am opening my own private teaching studio called The Creative Space in 2026.
I believe that God has not only done a work in me, but that He has allowed that work to inspire and help equip others to go out and minister through music. The Creative Space will be a training ground and a Christian learning environment for all ages. I will be able to support and train local worship teams and offer music classes and workshops for homeschoolers, as well as individual lessons of many kinds. I am excited to see what God is getting ready to do.
If you have a gift or a talent, I would encourage you to surrender it to God and see what great things He has in store for you.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Allison Aldrich, and I am an award winning, internationally acclaimed Christian Singer-Songwriter. I started writing and releasing my own music about four years ago. It has been a journey of creativity, and ministry. Throughout my life’s journey, the Lord has directed my paths in ways that, although I didn’t understand it or agree with it, I can see how He has painted my life as a master artist, paying attention to each detail that works together according to his plan.
A couple of years ago, our family hit some hard times. After moving to Florida, our once flourishing family business seemed to have come to a grinding halt. I had to go back into the work force after having spent a solid twelve years home (or working from home) with my children. I had sold cars before I had children, so I put out a job application, and had an interview within about a half hour. I was hired and started selling cars. As time went on, the hours were long, sales were stressful, and my seventeen thousand steps a day were wearing me out. Florida heat, and selling cars, was not much fun. I had begun to pray that God would provide me with a better job and a better environment. Little did I know the plans He had in store for me.
It wasn’t long that I was contacted with a possible teaching opportunity. A local school needed a music director for their school. A Christian School for elementary students. It was as if God had just wrapped up and created the PERFECT job for me and put it on my lap with a big red bow on it. I have been blessed to be teaching music full time for the past year and a half.
Because of my experience with the car dealership, I gained better people skills, and learned new social media marketing ideas, and because of my experience teaching, I learned just how much of an impact a teacher makes on her students. Every day, I have the opportunity to teach 124 students that come through my classroom. I teach them general music theory, reading music, music appreciation, performance, vocals, some instruments, rhythm, and more importantly the WORD of God, and the importance of prayer and worship.
I have had a dream in my heart for the past couple of years that I have recently felt God urging me to get started called “The Creative Space.” The Creative Space will be a place where Creativity and Faith come to life. Some people get hung up on creativity and originality. During the beginning of January, The Creative Space will officially be an LLC, and gearing up to accept Florida’s “Step Up for Students Scholarships” as a homeschool enrichment program. The Creative Space will be a training ground, and a faith based environment, where people of all ages can learn different music instruments, songwriting, vocal lessons, etc. The Creative Space will also offer training for local worship teams, and community/homeschool workshops and music classes.
My goal with the Creative Space, is to embrace natural creativity, and encourage students to think outside of the box. The world doesn’t need more copy and paste musicians and singers, we need people who are willing to let their individual lights shine. I also envision eventually being able to send out people on missions trips to other countries. At least once a week on my social media, I receive a message asking for me to come to their country and teach their children music. I would like for The Creative Space to eventually be a program that can organize and support mission trips to jump start music teaching programs in other countries.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most important qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have been impactful in my journey are, a LOVE for music, the ability to self teach and persevere through hard things, and my knowledge of general music theory. I have loved music my entire life, and sing my way through all life situations.
No matter what you want to do in life, just know that if it is hard, that doesn’t mean it is not attainable. If you have a will or desire to learn something, you can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you. You don’t have to have a big fancy degree to learn a lot of life skills, and it’s NEVER too late to start. I started releasing my own music in my thirties. It’s not too late to pursue your dreams and passions.
Self teaching is an amazing thing. The internet gives us a world of learning opportunities. Youtube University has taught me so many life skills. Also, I would recommend researching free on-line workshops around the skills you would like to learn. For example, music production. When I didn’t have the budget for a studio, I wanted to learn to do it on my own. I found several free interactive zoom training session on Logic Pro, a community of like minded people, Skool groups, and I found numerous songwriter challenges that built communities on-line. I have also recently been working on some certifications on Alison.com in music theory and subject that will help me in my teaching field.
Do you research. There is a world of resources. Confidence comes with getting out of your comfort zone. If you want to be a successful person, I would recommend pursing opportunities to get out of your comfort zone. Teaching, public speaking, singing in public, talking to people you normally wouldn’t…All of these things help set you up for success. If we can be comfortable being “uncomfortable” then we can do almost anything.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
One of the most impactful things my parents did for me growing up, was putting me in the Suzuki Strings program as a fourth grader. All of the other students that were my age had started playing when they were just four to five years old, and I was…ten. I stood a couple feet taller than the rest of the kids on my skill level. Group lessons were somewhat embarrassing when we all played together once a week.
I determined at that first group lesson outside of my private individual lessons that I would catch up to my peers in my grade level and pass them within a year. By the end of that school year, I had gone through five Suzuki books and had surpassed all of the students on my grade level who had been playing since Kindergarten. I didn’t do this to boast, or brag and be prideful, but I wanted to succeed and I wanted, more than anything, to play music skill fully.
I joined the orchestra in 5th grade. Learning to read music was difficult for me, but my mom was also a strings player. She made sure I practiced every day, and practiced with me. She helped me when it was hard, but drilling the value of practice into me. Repetition makes it easier. She played with me. My fingers were sore, I can imagine hers were too. One day, the music reading clicked, and it began to make sense. It was like learning a foreign language. Because of my Mom, I was one of the top violinists in the program, and in Junior high was the Concert Mistress first chair violinist. I was also the only freshman to make it in to the first violins section in the high school orchestra. I played in youth symphonies, and did state competitions and left judges feeling in awe when I played.
I know the Lord anointed me when I played. I would pray and ask God to receive the glory during every performance after he changed my life in Jr. High. The experience playing strings, is the foundation that the rest of my music career stemmed from. And that foundation, came from. a mother who was willing to sit and practice the hard things with me. I am forever thankful. Now, as I sit in my own home, and hear the squeaky sounds of the strings of student violins, and the strumming of slightly out of tune guitar strings, and the receptive five finger patterns and scales being played on the keyboard, I thank God for a love of music. What a beautiful gift He has given the world
