We recently connected with Allison Bray and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome has been an evolving process for me. I once heard Martha Stewart discuss how she never felt imposter syndrome because she believed that if she got to a certain point, she deserved to be there. That perspective resonated with me and shifted my mindset.
Instead of doubting myself, I started acknowledging the hard work and dedication that brought me to where I am. If I’ve earned my seat at the table, I should own it confidently.
For me, overcoming those feelings has also been about focusing on the impact I make for my clients at Post Perfect. Seeing the growth in their businesses and the trust they place in me is a constant reminder that I’m doing meaningful work. By embracing that and staying authentic to who I am, I’ve been able to move past self-doubt and fully step into my role as a leader.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At Post Perfect, we specialize in creating custom social media marketing strategies tailored to help small businesses thrive online. My passion for this work stems from growing up alongside the evolution of social media—it’s a space I’ve always felt connected to and excited about.
We take a tailored approach to every project, treating each client’s brand as if it were our own. We focus on crafting strategies that not only amplify their online presence but also genuinely connect with their audience in meaningful ways. It’s not about generic templates or one-size-fits-all solutions—it’s about building something that reflects the heart of each business and its unique story. Watching our clients grow and succeed alongside us is the most rewarding part of what we do.
Currently, we’re focused on expanding our services to offer even more tools for small businesses, including content creation workshops and social media audits. These initiatives are designed to empower entrepreneurs to take control of their online presence while still leaning on our expertise.
What I’m most excited about is helping businesses tell their unique stories in ways that resonate and stand out in a crowded digital world. At the heart of everything we do is a genuine desire to see our clients succeed.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, the three most impactful qualities or skills that helped shape my path were adaptability, persistence, and a strong understanding of digital marketing.
Adaptability: In the fast-paced world of social media marketing, being adaptable has been crucial. Trends shift rapidly, new platforms emerge, and what worked yesterday may not work today. Being open to learning and pivoting when necessary has helped me stay ahead of the curve and continue to meet clients’ evolving needs. My advice to those starting out is to embrace change and view it as an opportunity to grow rather than a challenge. Staying flexible will allow you to ride the waves of an ever-changing industry.
Persistence: The road hasn’t always been smooth, and there were plenty of hurdles along the way. But it was persistence that kept me going, even during tough times. Success often takes time, and it’s important to stick with it, even when it feels like progress is slow. To those starting out, don’t be discouraged by setbacks. The key is to keep pushing forward, refine your strategies, and learn from each experience.
Understanding Digital Marketing: This one is a no-brainer for anyone in the social media and marketing space. Building a deep understanding of how digital marketing works, from SEO to analytics, has been vital to my success. It’s not enough to just create content; knowing how to craft campaigns that reach the right audience, measure their effectiveness, and adjust accordingly is essential. My advice here is to constantly educate yourself, whether through courses, reading, or simply experimenting with new strategies.
For anyone early in their journey, I’d say focus on these three areas. Be adaptable, stay persistent, and learn as much as you can about the field you’re in. Your growth will come from embracing these qualities, and the right opportunities will open up for you when you least expect it.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I turn to a few key strategies to regain control and stay focused:
Prioritize and Break Tasks Down: I’ve found that breaking large tasks into smaller, manageable steps helps reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed. I focus on the most important tasks first and then tackle the smaller ones. Using tools like task management apps (like Trello or Asana) to create clear to-do lists also helps keep me organized. This approach helps me see progress and prevents burnout.
Take a Step Back: Sometimes, the best thing you can do is to take a break. Whether it’s a short walk outside, a few minutes of meditation, or simply stepping away from my workspace, giving myself permission to recharge is essential. Studies show that taking breaks can improve focus and reduce stress (source: Harvard Business Review).
Delegate and Ask for Help: I’ve learned that it’s okay to ask for help or delegate tasks. As a business owner, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking you need to do everything yourself, but when I delegate tasks to trusted team members or seek support from my network, it relieves a lot of pressure.
Practice Mindfulness or Meditation: Practicing mindfulness helps me manage anxiety and bring my focus back to the present moment. Whether it’s a guided meditation session or simply focusing on my breath for a few minutes, these moments of pause help me clear my mind and approach the situation with a clearer perspective.
Set Boundaries: It’s easy to overextend yourself, especially when you care deeply about your work. Setting boundaries around your time and energy is key to preventing burnout. I make sure to schedule time for myself, whether it’s an hour each morning to recharge or a weekend off to rest.
If you feel overwhelmed, remember it’s okay to take a step back, re-prioritize, and ask for help. Everyone has their own strategies, and finding what works best for you is the key.
