Meet Allison Ciarlone

We recently connected with Allison Ciarlone and have shared our conversation below.

Allison , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I have been a stylist for almost 18 years and I was given the opportunity to work with some crazy talented women during a time that was very crucial in my career. My husband was injured on the job about 5 years ago and in need of surgery causing him to be out of work for 2 years. At the time I was a part time stylist working 16 hour weeks, balancing being at home with my children while my husband worked his full time job. This caused me to reverse roles, work really hard to enhance my career, my hours, and build my clientele. When you surround yourself with inspiring creative artists, you grow in more ways than you can imagine. I hustled, learned new techniques, learned how to grow my social media, inspired everyday with the goals of other stylists which in return kept me wanting more as well, not only for myself but for my family. I was eager to grow my work and become even better. The energy you surround yourself with is important which causes the confidence and security within your work, your artistry to grow. When you thrive in your workplace, surround yourself with positivity, gain confidence in your skill, your focus and energy shifts which creates doors to open. Believing in yourself is key to support your goals and I opened my own salon 2 years ago, King Street Hair.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

November 2024 will mark 2 years of King Street Hair. A salon with big talent in the heart of the cutest little town in Malvern, Pa. I have worked endlessly in those 2 years to perfect my craft, promote my business, fill my book and hire amazing talent. That once part time stylist has become a full time color specialist salon owner and it proves just anything is possible with hard work and support of family and friends. I thrive on creating beautiful hair everyday and lived in color has a very special place in my heart. I love learning new techniques and continuing to enhance my craft. Every woman deserves to feel their absolute best and being able to help with that is amazing. I hope to start educating within the salon and opening new doors. King Street Hair continues to evolve and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back on my career I found that continuing your education is a must, you always have room to grow and learn new techniques. Keeping a circle of like minded people in your corner is important. We thrive on creativity and it’s important to support one another. Watch, watch your peers and ask all the questions, take those chances and jump on new things that may seem scary. Post the photo and have confidence in your work. The world is at your fingertips and you have all the control, use it.

Being a new stylist the best advice I can give is to make yourself available. Get everyone in your chair. Work those odd hours if it means it gets people in, continue to work on your craft and build that book. It won’t be overnight but it is so worth it in the end.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

I have an army of support and I am so grateful for them. My husband, kids, entire family, friends and stylist community. Owning a business is as hard as they say it is, I won’t sugar coat it. It tests you but also is amazing in every way!! Having my circle of support has been so important in my success. I owe a lot to them and hope they know they are also what makes King Street Hair what it is today. It takes a village and I’m very grateful for mine.
