Meet Allison Dozar

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Allison Dozar. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Allison below.

Allison , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose by years of dedicating the time and space to explore the whisper of my intuition and practicing that over and over again. In my role as a clinical hypnotist, I facilitate journeys into the subconscious, where individuals can explore and transform deeply rooted beliefs and behaviors. Through this process, I witnessed how people could access profound insights and awaken to their innate potential. Similarly, as a musical artist, I cultivate spaces where emotions can be expressed and felt deeply, allowing listeners to connect with their innermost thoughts and feelings. I realized I was truly in my purpose when I felt the transformative power of these experiences—when clients and audiences alike could relax into their authenticity and connect with how they truly feel. This alignment between my roles as a hypnotist and musician showed me that my purpose wasn’t just about guiding physical and mental health but also about creating spaces where people could give themselves permission to feel deeply.
As I embraced this understanding, I saw that when we allow ourselves to feel authentically, we create a ripple effect. By giving ourselves permission to feel, we empower others to do the same, fostering a community where everyone can connect more deeply with their inner truth and potential.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a woman on a mission to have fun, strain the wisdom out of life’s lessons, make lemonade out of lemons and create and share the universal language of music. In 2022, I sprouted my virtual and Longmont, Colorado in-person wellness clinic, MBS Wellness, out of a health coaching department in a local family practice when the obesity specialist I supported decided to sell his practice. Since then, I’ve been working hard to help people realize and actualize their health and lifestyle goals through a multitude of modalities–motivational interviewing, clinical hypnosis, yoga, etc. Professionally I have been extremely excited about the power of our subconscious mind and the outcomes we are seeing regarding our clinical hypnotherapy. This work feels like my gift to the world, and I’m committed to the work that allows the space and container to provide my gift to the local community and, thanks to the internet, the world! In my musical realm, I recently recorded a solo live studio album full of emotional bangers that have been evolving into ever changing compositions over the past 10 years. I’m thrilled to release the record later this year and give the people an intimate version of some of the songs they might have heard at live- full band shows. The past two years I’ve been making music with a local (r&b) rhythm and bluegrass band called Queso Ra. We’re getting into the studio in August, and I’m equally excited to capture the friendly harmonies and mountain sound we’ve grown into. Look out for both projects hitting all musical platforms soon.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
It’s hard to only pick three. I think the most critical skills or qualities that have benefited me through my journey have been first understanding how our brilliant minds work and the power of our thoughts and how they impact our reality. Understanding how magnificent our bodies and brains are in receiving information, transmuting an experience into wisdom, and increasing our capacity to live fuller lives has been eye opening and very empowering to me. It has really drilled in the notion that what is happening around us is not what we see, but truly how we see it. Another skill worth sharpening is the ability to fail forward and keep a beginner mindset through the hard times. This, like most things in life, is easier said than done and has to be a daily practice. My ability to allow myself to fail has proven to reward me with major life lessons that taught me not only what works and what doesn’t, but has improved my confidence each time I’ve dusted myself off and tried again, eventually finding my groove and enjoying the fruits of the failure leading to success. The last skill is bringing a quality of PLAY into all things that we do. Life is too short! If we’re not having fun, or at least trying to, what are we even doing?

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I consider myself lucky to always hold a bouquet of beautiful friends- some are athletes, business owners, healers, yoga teachers, mothers, doctors, musicians, artist, scholars, and just all around bad ass humans showing up for life in a way that respects the grind and the bumpy roads that come with it. Through their support and consistent examples of resilience I have been able to muster up the 20 seconds of courage sometimes needed to keep it moving and keep it grooving through this dance of life. I am so grateful for what I like to call Team Zest! We’re always accepting members in the club. Gratitude is the ticket if you want in.
