We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Allison Eastman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
Self-care is so very important in maintaining balance and overall health and well-being. In fact, it’s crucial for effectiveness and a happy, healthy life! I’m so passionate about self-care and helping others make time for it, that I’ve made it my career to provide holistic health services that relax and renew the body and mind. Self-care includes all areas of our life: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social health. As a mom of 3 with a busy life, I’ve learned just how necessary self-care truly is. I make time for self-care in all these areas for a good balance and effectiveness.I start and end my day with devotions and prayer for strength and peace in God. I exercise daily as it has huge impacts on my physical and mental health. I enjoy participating and teaching fitness classes at the YMCA while also enjoying the Y community. I also enjoy yoga and long walks. I eat well, drink lots of water and make sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep at night ( I love my sleep!) I also look forward to my favorite drink everyday- my morning coffee! Of course not everyday is perfect- The 80/20 method works for me; 80% healthy 20% wiggle room for not so healthy indulgences 😉 I treasure time with family and friends, laugh and play with my kids. I also enjoy relaxation through massage, facials getting outside and a good movie or tv series. When we take care of ourselves, we show up as the best version of ourselves. We can better care for others, handle what life throws at us, enjoy life and look & feel our best!

I provide a variety of health and wellness services at my wellness studio. I’m a Cosmetologist, Reflexologist, Holistic Health Coach ( IIN), Zumba Fitness Instructor, wife and mom of 3! I love providing relaxation and calm through my spa/wellness services which include Reflexology, Facials, Body Scrub Treatments & Lash Lift & Tint. Reflexology promotes many benefits to the entire body providing circulation and energy to every gland, system and organ in the body, This treatment is done on the feet (hands and ears as well) through massage and acupressure. It’s deeply relaxing and can help with many things including; detox, circulation, pain, sleep, anxiety, stress, overall balance and wellness. Facials are also a very relaxing service and provides many benefits such as: a facial massage that hits many pressure points on the face, neck, shoulder, scalp and hand massage which is deeply relaxing. Can help with lymphatic movement, circulation and skin health. Exfoliating Body Scrub Treatments are also very popular as they also provide relaxation, circulation, sloughs off dead, dry skin, hydrate and polishes the skin. All treatments include hot towels, aroma therapy, calming music and atmosphere allowing you to let go and relax- soothing the skin and the soul. On the wellness and coaching side, my passion is encouraging others in their health journey and supporting their goals. Reminding them that health doesn’t have to be complicated. All my services come together beautifully in a holistic way. My goal is to ensure that each and every guest finds total relaxation, calm and honest support at every visit. This job is special to me in many ways. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Listening and customer service, Knowledge obtained in my education along with the importance of holistic health, positive mindset, following your passion & ideas while understanding/ knowing your strengths and abilities.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed I give myself permission to put a couple things on hold and come back to it later. My favorite strategies are: going on a walk with my family or alone. Just being outside is also very grounding! I also like to blast my favorite music or sit in the sauna, do some yoga, dance, pray, laugh and play a game/some activity with my family and be fully engaged in that. Life can get busy and overwhelming; by putting things temporarily on the back burner, it allows you to be present and re-center, then come back to it re-energized.
