Meet Allison Johnson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Allison Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Allison , we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

One thing about me is I love to stay active. I enjoy being on the go and motivated at all times! I crave exercise even on my day off. My self-care hobbies involve a lot of physical activity. This includes weightlifting, pilates, yoga, boxing, and dancing. I’ve been lifting for four years and danced for eleven. When I’m not in the gym, I enjoy spending time connecting with myself through meditation. Something about shutting out stress and life’s craziness while immersing myself in my own body’s thoughts is very enticing after a hard workout. These activities have not only improved my physical health and well being, but have also strengthened my mental health. I have found a way to connect with my true self through exercise.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Allison Johnson and I specialize in modeling and fashion. My recent projects include brand partnerships , pairing with Macys, and becoming a dance model for the launching dance-wear brand, Klara Kouture. I was thrilled to be chosen because most of my life has been dedicated to dance. I danced from age three to thirteen, and quit once I got connected with an agency. That being said, I’ve been training in the gym to maintain my talent for possible upcoming castings. I’m so glad I kept my dance technique, because it’s now leading me to new projects and experiences.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three skills that were the most important in my journey are commitment, diligence, and motivation. I can confidently say that I’m a hard worker, and always give 100% to any project I’m working on. I train every single day so I can give my full potential at castings and shows. I’m committed enough to continue dancing, even though I haven’t been at a studio in years. These qualities have enhanced my work ethic, and ability to keep reaching for new goals and success.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

As many know, modeling can be a very challenging and stressful career. To maintain a positive mindset and get through chaos, I meditate. Meditation is proven to help calm your nervous system. Before and after shows, I enjoy meditating. I enter the room with calmness, and am ready to face any challenge. No trouble is worth self destruction and a simple way to uplift yourself, is to connect with yourself. I believe stress is a block to my best performance, thus I choose to let things play out while remaining happy.
