Meet Allison Moses

We were lucky to catch up with Allison Moses recently and have shared our conversation below.

Allison , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from not giving up on myself and allowing me to be misunderstood, I think is really huge. I have been faced with some struggles in life that is for sure, made many mistakes along the way. But I am not a victim nor entitled to an easy life. I am grateful and very thankful for my parents being so supportive along my path and detours that have made me who I am today. I am very fortunate to have found a wonderful community of other like minded individuals along this journey of new experiences that have nothing but positive vibes and focus on all the good things we are working on. I branded myself, so that I would have something to keep me going everyday as a reminder to not give up, no matter what.

This year has been especially hard, and I have tested all the lessons I learned over the years. For I was in my worst car accident this past January and for months we did not have a lot of answers. It was hard to move forward, in so much pain. I didn’t even want to drive again, but I had to do it anyways. Having limited vision with some vision loss, has been the hardest part especially being a makeup artist; working with lights, shadows and colors has been a challenge but I am learning to have patience each day in the frustration of it all, and accepting that it is a part of who I am now. Each day I tend to surprise myself and it feels good to have faith even when everything seems to be going wrong. Keeping positive is definitely key, for my own thoughts of fear usually get in my way.

My favorite quote is “If you can’t beat the fear, just do it scared. Sometimes you just do it broke, sometimes you just do it nervous, sometimes you just do it depressed and lonely. But you just have to do it. Ideal circumstances and ideal emotions may not come your way, but you don’t need to be ideal to do it, anyways.”

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I have a passion for being a makeup artist and love to see clients reactions when feeling comfortable and confident in their own skin. Makeup has always been a big part of who I am, I have to put my face on, to start my day, everyday. When I was a young girl, my mom sold Mary Kay and I remember always being so fascinated with the color and application process to the end results. There is so much beauty in makeup.

Right after high school I worked Clinque counter at The Jones Store for about five years. I really enjoyed learning about skin, self care, obtaining product information, and the correct process of product layering for results. Makeup is what built my confidence in my teens, as I felt more comfortable in my own skin. Many years later, I found myself at crossroads in life but this time I was looking for passion and desire in life. I ended up enrolling myself at The School of Paul Mitchell Overland Park to learn hair. I was quickly reminded that the color I really enjoy; was makeup.

While getting back into the industry I thought why not start my own cosmetic line I always dreamed of? So that spring I used my tax return to put towards product and startup costs. While curating my products, it was important to me having sensitive skin that my products were light-weight yet loaded with botanical extracts – Chamomile and Green Tea to help heal and calm skin throughout the day, infused with Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid to maintain younger feeling skin. 100% Vegan, oil-free, talc-free, paraben-free and gluten-free. My liquid HD foundations are blend-able, build-able and love-able. Yet ultra-smooth, pigmented to conceal blemishes and flawless to perfection.

January 2025, we have a new product launch of trio eyeshadows and more trio blush colors I am very excited to share so watch the website for those to hit.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I feel that makeup has like a basic layer of knowledge. Then you just build on that to get the look you are trying to create. It is really reading your clients and picking colors they like and are suitable for their skin tone.

It’s important to have understanding of skin process, skin problems and product knowledge on how to treat or prevent damaged skin. Knowing how to properly skin type the skin, to begin a cleaner, toner, moisturizer, primer, base to ensure long lasting and flawless application.

When working on a runway or editorial it’s really important to know how to create any look on the fly. For you never know what model is going to sit down in your chair and what you are about to create. So application, knowing what your products and brushes are capable of and understanding current and past trends is huge.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

The website has been a love hate relationship. It has been a challenge to give the brand image that it deserves. I get tied up in learning about how to setup the back end while I loose focus on the front end. Getting the SEO setup has really been a struggle, I feel the more we set it up the further I get away from results.

Recently, I have made my website my point of focus again. I am working with a new content creator and I have high hopes that we are on the right road to success, that will also launch in January with the new product line.
