How I Found My Purpose

Finding my purpose was not something that happened overnight. In fact, it began as a struggle, and I had no idea at the time that it would lead me to where I am today.

My journey started with my own skin challenges. I’ve been there, looking in the mirror, frustrated by breakouts and flare-ups that seemed to have no end. I tried product after product, listening to advice that sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t, hoping I’d finally find a solution that would actually last. Through the trial and error, I found myself getting curious. I didn’t want temporary fixes; I wanted real answers. And slowly, that desire for answers turned into something more than just a way to help myself—I realized I wanted to help others who were going through the same struggle.

I took that curiosity and ran with it, diving headfirst into skincare education. I became certified, learning about skin on a level I’d never imagined. Suddenly, terms like “ingredients” and “treatments” took on new meaning. Understanding the science behind skincare transformed the way I saw my own journey, and I knew I had found a deeper purpose. It wasn’t just about “fixing” skin but about helping people understand their skin, feel comfortable in it, and ultimately gain confidence.

When I decided to open Animated Aesthetics Studio, I felt a mix of excitement and fear. Running a studio was a huge step, and as the sole owner, I was stepping into new territory. But I knew this was where I belonged. Every detail, from the design to the services I offered, was part of my story and part of my mission to bring a positive change to others’ lives. Each client that walked through my doors was another opportunity for me to share what I had learned and, hopefully, to give them something I had spent years working toward: peace with their own skin.

Today, my purpose is alive in every treatment, every product recommendation, and every conversation I have with clients. I see pieces of my own story in each person who comes to me for help, and I love showing them that their skin journey is worth every bit of time, patience, and care.

Helping others feel confident in their skin—that’s how I know I’ve found my purpose. It’s not just a job; it’s the heart of who I am and why I’m here.

At Animated Aesthetics Studio, I’m passionate about helping clients embrace their skin’s unique needs through customized, science-based treatments. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey, there are three qualities that I believe were most impactful: empathy, dedication to education, and adaptability. Each played a unique role in helping me build a practice that is both effective and deeply fulfilling. Here’s how they’ve shaped my path and my advice for those just starting out.

Empathy:
Empathy has been essential, especially in a field where people are often vulnerable and self-conscious about their skin. Being able to genuinely understand my clients’ struggles has allowed me to create a safe space where they feel seen and heard. If you’re starting out, I encourage you to listen actively and to always treat clients with kindness. The small moments—checking in on their comfort, validating their concerns—make a huge difference. Empathy isn’t just a skill; it’s a mindset, and it’s one that will help you build lasting relationships and trust.

Dedication to Education:
Staying informed and continuously expanding my knowledge has been a cornerstone of my practice. Skincare is a constantly evolving field, and being proactive about learning new techniques and understanding ingredients has enabled me to provide the best possible care. For those new to this journey, I’d recommend immersing yourself in reputable courses, attending workshops, and reading up on the latest research. Being an expert takes time, but each bit of knowledge you gain will build confidence in your craft and deepen your ability to help clients.

Adaptability:
No two clients are the same, so being adaptable is crucial. Every client’s skin and lifestyle bring unique challenges and needs, and adapting my approach to suit each individual has been key to my success. To develop adaptability, start by welcoming challenges instead of shying away from them. Each new client, skin type, or issue is an opportunity to learn something new. Approach your work with an open mind, and don’t be afraid to experiment within safe boundaries. Flexibility in your methods will help you grow faster and make you a more intuitive, client-centered professional.

For anyone just beginning their journey, I would say this: prioritize empathy, keep learning, and stay open to change. These qualities have not only shaped my practice but also given me a sense of purpose and resilience that make each day rewarding.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone who is committed to their skincare journey and open to learning about what works best for their unique skin. Whether they’re struggling with acne, hyperpigmentation, or simply seeking a consistent routine, my ideal client is ready to invest time and care into their skin’s health. They understand that skincare is a process, not a quick fix, and they’re patient with themselves along the way.

I also love working with clients who are curious and communicative. Skincare can be a complex journey, and those who ask questions, share their skin concerns, and give feedback about how products or treatments are working help me create a tailored experience that brings the best results. Trust and openness allow us to work as a team, and it’s so rewarding to celebrate their progress together.

Lastly, my ideal client values consistency and a willingness to try new approaches. Every skin type is different, and sometimes finding the perfect routine requires a bit of trial and error. Clients who trust the process and are open to adjusting their routines as needed make the experience enjoyable and rewarding.

With clients who embody these characteristics, I can truly make a difference, guiding them toward radiant, healthy skin and helping them feel confident every step of the way.
