Meet Allo Gilinsky

We recently connected with Allo Gilinsky and have shared our conversation below.

Allo, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

I’m able to keep my creativity alive by being someone who’s constantly looking for and thinking of new ideas and creative avenues. One of my strengths is identifying niche ideas and figuring how best to implement them. By keeping myself involved in the community that my business is a part of, I’m also able to learn from others and find collaborative and innovate ways to develop programming.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I developed The Craft Beer Concierge as a business from taking a social media persona and ‘lifting it off the page’. I’d run a platform and blog as Craft Beer Concierge for five years, and decided to become The Craft Beer Concierge as a business and personal identity that focuses on engaging and informative craft beer events and also consulting.

I’m able to link small businesses together by bringing programming to local breweries where I lead food & beer pairing events that involve a small food vendor and a brewery and bring people to experience both on nights where breweries may need an event to get people in the door. I’ve also taught classes on beer for local university clubs, and led private corporate tastings.

I love getting to share my passion for beer with both lovers and learners alike, helping introduce people to new styles they’d never heard of, or showing how food and beer can work together and make for delicious pairings.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I’d say the three most important or impactful aspects of my journey have boiled down to: communication, flexibility, and hospitality.

In a business that’s people first, you have to know how to communicate both with your vendor and business partners, as well as customers. Having 15+ years of customer service experience has grown my communication skills and helped me to be able to navigate lots of different situations and personalities.

You also have to be able to be flexible. Sometimes there’s a product not available last minute that you’re counting on, or a guest running late to an event and asking for special accommodations. Knowing how to pivot and be flexible is crucially important.

In my business, it all boils down to hospitality. Being able to put forth a welcoming, engaging product that people will be talking about afterwards and leave just as happy or happier than when they walked through the door. That’s what it’s all about.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

I’d spent that last decade of my life making as many plans as I can to set my loved ones and family up the best I can, and soak in every minute with them. I’d still pursue any entrepreneurial endeavor that I’m either currently running or that may come to me, as it’ll drive me and give me more motivation to have something to succeed at and leave a name for myself by.

Traveling and experiencing as much of the world as I could would also be extremely rewarding and important to me. Being able to share those experiences with friends and loved ones, while taking in every corner of the planet that I could. Eating the best food, drinking the best beer, and creating lasting memories. That’s how I’d plan to spend the last years I have.
