Ally, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.
My magic word is Balance! I recently did a podcast with Guided Mistakes found on Spotify talking about balancing motherhood and business. Balancing the demands of being a mom and a business owner while working remotely can indeed be challenging, but establishing intentional strategies can help prevent burnout.
Avoiding Burnout as a Mom and Business Owner
As a mother and entrepreneur, I often find myself juggling multiple roles and responsibilities. The freedom of working remotely brings flexibility but also poses unique challenges. To maintain my sanity and well-being, I have adopted several strategies to avoid burnout like Setting Clear Boundaries. I designate specific hours for work and family. During work hours, I focus solely on my business, and during family time, I consciously unplug from work or try to. That is easier said than done as the CEO.
I’ve also created a dedicated workspace in my home. This physical separation helps me mentally switch between my roles as a business owner and a mom.
Prioritize Self-Care
I attempt to incorporate short breaks throughout my workday to recharge. A quick walk, some stretching, or even a few minutes of mindfulness can make a significant difference.
I schedule regular “me time,” such as coffee dates with friends and family, massages, or doing things I like to do.
Establish a Routine
Daily Schedule I create a daily agenda that outlines work tasks and family activities. This routine brings structure to my day, which is crucial when working from home. My assistant has a huge role in this as I often have her making my schedule. She is an important part of my day to day work to help it go smoothly, so thanks Kayleigh!
I also involve my family and delegate tasks- I involve my children in age-appropriate chores or tasks, which helps teach them responsibility and lightens my load.
Family Meetings- Regular family meetings help us communicate our schedules and needs, ensuring that we’re all on the same page and supporting one another.
Practice Mindfulness
Stay Present: I consciously practice mindfulness during work and family interactions. This helps me to be more engaged and reduces feelings of being overwhelmed.
Seek Support
Networking with Other Moms/Parents: I connect with other moms in similar situations for support and encouragement. Sharing experiences can provide valuable insights and foster camaraderie.
Professional Help: When feeling particularly stressed, I’m open to seeking professional help, whether it’s talking to a therapist or a life coach for guidance, or having my cleaner come by to make my life after work a bit easier.
By intentionally setting boundaries, prioritizing self-care, and creating a structured routine, I can navigate the challenges of being a mom and a business owner while minimizing feelings of burnout. It’s important to remember that taking care of yourself is not a luxury—it’s a necessity that ultimately benefits both my family and my business. Balancing these responsibilities is an ongoing journey, and I continue to adapt and refine my strategies to ensure I remain fulfilled in every role I embrace.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Life Changes, Business Growth, and the Power of Community!
Wow, what a year it has been! As I juggling the demands of running AC Billing and Credentialing Specialists, LLC and parenting, life has thrown quite a few curveballs my way. But with every challenge, I’ve found strength through prayer and the incredible support system at home. I couldn’t do it without my team at AC and partner.
Exciting things are happening at AC!! We’re thrilled to introduce our fabulous new partners, including our credentialing specialists, Barry Johnson and Billing supervisor, Casey Fulton! Together, we’re on a mission to help patients across the U.S. get the care they deserve through our expertise in credentialing and billing.
And guess what? My business partner and I are diving into the mental health field as well! Next year, we’ll be launching services to support clinicians when they need a helping hand and seeing our own patients. Our commitment to growth means we’re eager to reach even more patients in all areas of healthcare!
But that’s not all! We’re also passionate about giving back. Our team is dedicated to offering pro bono services for ministries across the U.S., because we believe that good things happen when we lend a helping hand. Helping others has always been my heart’s desire, and I strive to inspire that same generosity in my incredible team at AC.
I hope that by instilling these values in my children, they’ll grow into kind and generous individuals too. Together, let’s keep spreading positivity and making a difference, one patient at a time!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, I can pinpoint three qualities that have truly shaped my path and been instrumental in my growth:
Resilience
Life is full of ups and downs, especially when balancing business and family. Developing resilience has been vital in navigating challenges. It’s about bouncing back from setbacks and finding the silver lining in difficult situations.
Embrace failures as learning experiences. Cultivate a growth mindset by reflecting on each setback and asking yourself what you can learn from it. Surround yourself with positive influences who support and encourage your journey.
Adaptability
As our business evolved, so did the landscape of healthcare and the needs of our clients. Being adaptable has allowed me to pivot when necessary and seize new opportunities, such as diving into the mental health field or other medical fields. We have a goal of reaching plastic surgery soon!
Stay curious! Learn continuously, and be open to new ideas and feedback. This flexibility not only helps you respond to change with grace but also enables you to innovate and thrive in any environment.
Empathy
Understanding and relating to others’ experiences have played a key role in building strong relationships with partners, clients, and my team. Empathy fosters connection and trust, which are crucial in any collaborative effort.
Practice active listening. Take the time to really understand the perspectives of others, especially your clients and team members. This will build rapport and create a more supportive environment, making it easier to achieve shared goals.
For those early in their journey, remember that each step is part of the process. Focus on building these qualities, and don’t hesitate to seek mentorship or connect with others who inspire you. It’s the connections you forge, the experiences you embrace, and the lessons you learn that will fuel your growth. Enjoy the journey and be patient with yourself; success is a marathon, not a sprint! PATIENCE AND BALANCE!
