Meet Ally Meyers

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ally Meyers. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ally below.

Hi Ally , so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?

For years, I thought of self-care as things like facials and baths—activities that never really resonated with me. It wasn’t until I became a parent that I realized self-care, for me, is something entirely different. It’s about the habits that shape your daily life and build the mental strength and resilience needed to show up as your best self.

These days, my self-care routine includes morning mindfulness meditation, daily goal and intention-setting, regular exercise and movement, screen-free breaks throughout the day, and prioritizing quality sleep.

As a full-time working mom of four, some seasons of life have been particularly challenging. Setting boundaries has been essential to maintaining these habits and staying focused. For instance, we have a household rule that young kids don’t come downstairs before 7 AM, giving me the solitude I need for my morning routine. Similarly, I use “focus mode” during the day to carve out uninterrupted time for deep, creative work. These practices have been critical in helping me stay purposefully productive and grounded.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I reached a breaking point. Balancing professional responsibilities, community commitments, covid-related losses, a child with unique needs… all while raising four young boys? It was more than I could handle. Early on in the pandemic, I doubled down on a few small, consistent practices, recognizing that they were having a profound impact on my ability to manage the stress of this difficult time. And as I witnessed the nation’s mental well-being hit record lows, I felt a deep pull to help reverse this trend and teach others the skills to manage stress in our modern, fast-paced world.

After years of studying the science behind human flourishing, I obtained a certification in Positive Psychology and Executive Coaching. I became committed to educating and empowering leaders and their teams to take control of their well-being and stay mentally strong in today’s world of microstressors and blurred boundaries.

I created a signature framework identifying the Building Blocks of Resilience. My FLOURISH@WORK™ system is based on the understanding that in order to build engaged and resilient teams, leaders and teams must first learn the foundational elements needed to protect us from stress and burnout. Managers must lead by example and reinforce the concepts through science-backed employee coaching. In other words, a well-being strategy must include both education and integration in order to be effective.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

First, my love of learning has been a driving force throughout my journey. Whether diving into an unfamiliar subject, developing a new skill, or seeking guidance from someone who has already paved the way, this skill has been invaluable. In our rapidly evolving world, the ability to learn and adapt will be an essential skill for navigating the ever-changing professional landscape. With so much knowledge at our fingertips, taking even one small step toward learning a concept or skill can help reduce overwhelm and build confidence as you progress.

Another key skill is self-discipline. In a world full of distractions, using time-blocking and creating intentional work schedules has allowed me to be fully present for both my work and my family. Without clear boundaries, it’s easy to feel like you’re falling short in every area of life. By designating specific time blocks for tasks and minimizing digital distractions, you can bring focus and purpose to everything you do.

Lastly, I’ve embraced the importance of getting comfortable with discomfort. Each week, I teach new concepts or speak in front of groups, often with all eyes on me. Over time, I’ve learned that a little fear can be a good thing. It pushes me to prepare thoroughly and serves as a reminder that growth happens outside of our comfort zones. As the saying goes, “Feel the fear, and do it anyway.” That mindset has been transformative for me, and I believe it’s one we all should embrace.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal clients are managers or HR professionals who feel overwhelmed by their teams’ declining engagement and well-being. They recognize that prioritizing well-being is not only the right thing to do but also essential for their teams and business. However, they’re frustrated that their extensive menu of wellness programs and offerings is neither fully utilized nor creating lasting impact.

In today’s workplace, expansive wellness offerings alone aren’t enough to build thriving teams that feel genuinely cared for by their employers. My signature Flourish@Work™ system provides managers and teams with science-backed education to optimize individual well-being. Through simple, actionable strategies, they can seamlessly integrate these practices into both their work and personal lives, fostering real and sustainable change.
