We recently connected with Allyson Jackson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Allyson, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism comes from the way I was raised and the experiences that shaped me. Since I was young, I’ve always believed I was meant to do great things and that I would succeed in life no matter what path I chose. I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth, so I’ve learned the value of hard work, faith, and perseverance. Throughout my journey, I’ve been surrounded by family, church members, and friends who constantly reminded me to reach for the stars and believe that anything is possible. Their support and encouragement helped build my confidence and positive outlook on life. No matter what challenges I face, I keep that same belief that with determination and faith, everything will work out in the end.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a content creator, and honestly, it’s something I just genuinely enjoy doing. Right now, I’m attending the University of South Carolina, where I’m pursuing a master’s degree in Multimedia Journalism. I’m still figuring out exactly what I want to do with the degree because I see myself as very versatile. I love being in front of the camera just as much as I enjoy working behind the scenes. Recently, I joined SGTV (Student Gamecock Television), which is part of Garnet Media Group, a student-run media organization on campus. So far, I’ve been creating social media content, but I plan to branch out into reporting soon to get more hands-on experience in storytelling. Outside of school, I’ve been expanding my own social media by creating mini vlogs that capture everyday moments, as well as restaurant reviews. One of my latest videos was a review of a Black-owned coffee shop called Vibez Coffee in Downtown Columbia. Supporting Black-owned businesses is very important to me, especially since they don’t always get the recognition they deserve. At the end of the day, my brand is all about spreading joy and positivity. Whether it’s through my videos, interviews, or everyday content, I just want to create things that uplift people and make them feel inspired.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I think the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were staying optimistic, having patience, and being curious and adventurous. Staying optimistic helped me push through moments when things didn’t go as planned, because I always believed something better was coming. Having patience taught me that good things really do take time, and not everything happens overnight. Being curious and adventurous allowed me to step out of my comfort zone, meet new people, explore new opportunities, and grow both personally and professionally.
My best advice to others is to put your faith in the Lord and stay away from negative people. Trust that God has a plan for your life, even when you can’t see the full picture yet. Surround yourself with people who encourage you, uplift you, and want to see you win. Protecting your peace and keeping positive energy around you makes all the difference. When you keep your faith strong and your mindset right, everything else falls into place.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m always down to meet new people and collaborate. I’d love to connect with other content creators in South Carolina or surrounding states because I truly believe we can help each other grow. Like I mentioned in a previous interview, small creators can sometimes be each other’s biggest competition instead of supporters, and I really want to change that. If we connect and work together, we can grow and make a name for ourselves right here in the South.
I’m looking to collaborate with people who have positive energy, are outgoing, and open to trying new things. If that sounds like you, you can reach out to me on any of my socials or by email , I’m always excited to connect with genuine, creative people.
