Alshiminia , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Honestly my purpose found me if that makes sense haha. I didn’t know my purpose honestly, opportunities just kept presenting itself and I just stayed humbled and appreciative.
I was at an event almost 3 yrs ago my very good friend introduced me to her cousin who’s in the movie industry, at the time I was a model coordinator, Ms Deb asked me if I ever thought about being a wardrobe stylist, I chuckled and said not really, she stated Mimi I think you should give it a try. I’ll give you my god son’s number, he’s a writer,producer and director tell him about you and your business I waited at least one week because I was nervous and never done this before. I called him let me add he’s extremely busy(laughs). He called me back a week later, he stated I’m doing a stage play in 3 weeks I need a wardrobe stylist. My god mother spoke highly of you. I’ll email you the script call me once you read it and let me know your ideas. I called corta back told him my idea he said you have the concept, the play is in 3 weeks I need you to style the cast. I was like, he liked my ideas!! Of course I screamed with excitement! the cast was amazing and very kind. The day of the show he was very impressed and it’s been almost 2 yrs, and I’ve been his wardrobe stylist,
And looking forward to many other opportunities with him and other writer/ producers as well.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hi there I’m a wardrobe stylist, model coordinator, creative director.The one thing I love most about this journey is being able to pour positivity and confidence in my clients. I love that they trust and open up to me and talk about things that go on in their life, whether good or not so good. We share hugs, laughs,cries and goofy jokes with each other. I look at my business as a ministry to let them know it’s so amazing just to be you and let me help you find your uniqueness. I also just finished on set of a phenomenal movie with some gifted people that’s premiering in July “But I’m Married” as the wardrobe stylist. So stay tuned! im also working on a Broadway production with some amazing talent for the beginning of next year!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One my determination to keep pushing until I see results 2. Staying humble.3 The most important always stay professional.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
In this era of my life and building my business the most helpful has been my fiance` Lance Battiste, KC Ramsey( my beautiful assistant) the most talented corta ish and the lovely Deborah Williams have been an inspiration to me in this journey. Corta and my fiance has forced me to push myself beyond my limits and I’m so grateful .
