We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aly French & Erica Stein Courageous Wellness. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aly French & Erica Stein below.
Hi Aly French & Erica Stein, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
We met and became friends through our shared Buddhist practice. Aly then moved to Japan for a year and a half for work, and while she was there, we reconnected over Instagram and discovered a shared interest in nutrition.
When Aly returned to the states, we shared our very personal health and wellness stories with each other. We were surprised that we had known each other for years but didn’t know the intricacies of what the other person had gone through. Erica had dealt with a self-love experience and instense body dysmorphia and Aly had gone through multiple surgeries after a cancer diagnosis in her twenties.
We felt empowered by sharing our experiences with each other and wanted to empower others to do the same. From, there, our platform, Courageous Wellness Podcast was born. We have now released over 300 episodes with the hope of helping people feel less alone through their health journeys, whether physical, emotional, mental or spirtual. Our purpose organically grew out of transforming our own challenges into something beneficial for ourselves and others.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
We are Aly French and Erica Stein, Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coaches with advanced training in gut health and hormone health, wellness experts, and hosts of the popular podcast, Courageous Wellness on the Cloud10 Network. Courageous Wellness Collective is our extended community of like-minded individuals who have come together to learn, grow, thrive and work towards improved personal and community wellness. We recognize the wellness industry can be highly inaccessible and we are here to bridge the gap between individual journeys and community initiatives.
Through Courageous Wellness, we have spoken at events supporting Covenant House California, The Wayfarer Foundation, The Westside Food Bank of Los Angeles, The Financial Women’s Association (NYC), corporations across industries and in a variety of elementary school classrooms in Southern California. Aly and Erica have also been featured as wellness experts on the CW Network in Miami, FL and Austin, TX.
Some favorite recent episodes of the show include guests: Dr. Ramani Durvasula on healing from narcissitic abuse, May Lindstrom on caring for highly sensitive skin, and Dr. Brooke Scheller on drinking archetypes and sober curiousity.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Taking action before you feel ready 2. In business partnership, lean into your strengths
3. Cultivate flexibility and be open to change
To anyone early in thier journey, create personal practices that cultivate your courage so that you can remain open to taking the risks necessary for both personal and business development.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
We always offer a book recommendation at the end of every podcast episode! Please tune in to hear all of our guests’ favorite and most impactful book suggestions.
