Meet Alyssa Aparicio

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alyssa Aparicio. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alyssa below.

Hi Alyssa, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
I have found that I am incredibly magnetic, generous, and powerful when I share from my overflow. And when I feel depleted, desperate or scarce and try to move forward from that place, it just doesn’t work!

Thus, filling my cup is my priority. For this I am creating my own path because I did not see an existing one in which my mind, body, emotions, sexuality, and spirit would be honored to my standards. The hustle will try and convince you to put it above all else- but I believe it is important to write new scripts for the way forward because the existing devotion to the grind simply ain’t serving us.

I have many rituals for surrender, self care and cultivating vitality that have kept me grounded and made up the foundation of my success so far. They have given me the energy and clarity for the way forward. In turn, they have become the cornerstones of my Pussy Empowered™ approach- which I teach to my clients and pour into my art. Because I believe that surrendering to beingness in the present is the foundation of empowerment.

I’ve made a career out of showing others how to tap into the self celebration, authentic embodiment and expression that is available to all of us. We filter out the patriarchal narratives ingrained in us- its ongoing but it doesn’t have to be all shadow work. Pleasure, joy, community are all powerful medicine.

The times when I have fallen off my rituals and got hypnotized by the grind, aka impossible capitalist demands, have been painful and have always led me back to the same lessons of surrendering to ease and taking impeccable care of myself. I have seen in myself and my clients that we are antennae for abundance from that state of being. I do my best to lead by example and I take integrity very seriously in this and all matters.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I was born and raised in the Bronx with Puerto Rican, Panamanian and Mexican roots. I am an all around creative force and unapologetically multi-faceted. Performer, Choreographer, Recording Artist, Writer & the Founder and CEO of Pussy Empowered™. I host Pussy Empowered Podcast® where I share about my approach to Pussy Power and interview fellow paradigm shifting badasses about theirs.

Pussy Empowered™ is a movement to empower individuals to stand in their power, express themselves unapologetically, and set themselves free primarily through erotic embodiment and dance. I offer virtual and in person classes worldwide which has resulted in community across the globe. I’m currently based in LA where I am about to begin another round of Pussy Empowered Performance Class (a 10 week series) culminating in a group performance at our event series, Pussy Empowered Party. Nov. 18th: https://www.alyssaaparicio.com/party

As an artist, I am most passionate about erotic art. Through burlesque, stripping, latin dance, creating choreography, writing erotica, and releasing music, I love to tap into this part of myself for the sheer energy, excitement, aliveness it gifts me over and over.

My first music video for Como un Animal, a cover of the Nine Inch Nails Song “Closer” just dropped in addition to an uncensored, Rated R version which is an authentic expression of my body, and a middle finger to the ever frustrating misogynistic limitations of social media platforms.

I also have an electric Virtual Membership Program full of rituals, erotic art, courses and monthly live classes.

In January 2023, I will host my first Pussy Empowered Retreat in Puerto Rico, where I have roots in my lineage.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Rather than any skillset, I believe empowerment is moreso about beingness than about doing. I believe the top 3 commitments to my being that have spurred the most tangible results, satisfaction, and resulted in inspired, aligned action are:

1. Staying connected to my truth: Checking in with myself, my intuition with radical honesty to guide me rather than defaulting to answers outside of myself has been huge. When taking a path less traveled, this is integral to staying centered and knowing which way is up when things get difficult, which they inevitably will.

When the forces that be try to lure you away from your truth, you will know it when you are committed to a practice that connects you inwards. I practice meditation, journaling, self inquiry, and many other methods for this and I also share these in my in person and virtual offerings.

2. Building a strong relationship with my body: Learning to listen to, honor, and respect my body on my own terms, especially the parts of me that are considered taboo by the mainstream. I have done the exploration to find out what is true for me and what resonates with my body to stay present with my desires and needs. Caring for my body keeps me out of desperation and scarcity mode and in the flow of abundance. Tapping into erotic energy and pleasure as part of my everyday experience particularly have been so healing on a soul level.

3. Cultivating confidence: In order to grow and become the people we are meant to be, we must actively foster confidence. This won’t happen by accident. Confidence is a muscle we have to build up. Especially when we are constantly affronted by messages that we are not enough- bombarding us from all around through the media, our society and from messages ingrained within. This confidence is an inside job- no one can hand it to us. You must find the practices that remind you that you are that bitch! Some Pussy Empowered practices that I do daily to foster confidence include embodiment, sex magic, mirror work, and erotic dancing. On my website I offer free and paid rituals and practices that I’ve designed to foster unfuck-able with confidence, sense of self trust and radical self love.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
The Pussy Empowered community has created such an incredible safe space for us to explore our eroticism and step into our full power and there are not many spaces in the world I’ve seen that truly offer that.

As women and femmes, we have been taught to be in competition- to feel threatened by one another. But the reality is that we are SO MUCH stronger together.

So I am always calling in aligned collaborations with others who are committed to erotic liberation- who are passionate about sex positivity and sex worker inclusivity. I love to collaborate with individuals who are doing the work to be in integrity, prioritizing inclusivity of all kinds and having the bold conversations with the power to shift the reality for future generations.

I am also calling in badass artists who desire Pussy Empowered choreography: Tokischa and Bia are amongst my dream clients- get at me!
