Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alyssa Rodriguez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alyssa, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose in the midst of burnout and brokenness.
There was a time when I was deeply unhappy—exhausted by the demands of a corporate job, disconnected from my creativity, and slowly slipping into depression. I had achieved what many would consider “stability,” but I felt completely lost. I wasn’t creating. I wasn’t dreaming. I was simply surviving.
But even in that darkness, God was present.
He didn’t meet me with answers—He met me with stillness. He allowed me to reach the end of myself, not to abandon me there, but to restore me. And He did it through creativity.
I picked up my camera again—not to build a business, but to breathe. To notice light. To find beauty in the in-between moments. And little by little, I began to feel something awaken.
Then I started to sketch again. What once felt childish or forgotten suddenly became sacred. Drawing helped me process what words couldn’t. It reminded me of who I was before the world told me who I had to be.
That’s when it clicked: my purpose isn’t tied to productivity—it’s rooted in presence. In creating. In capturing emotion, light, and truth. Whether through a lens or a pencil, God gave me a way to see—and help others see—that even in our most broken places, beauty can still rise.
Finding my purpose wasn’t a single moment—it was a process of surrender. God had to strip away the noise and false identities I had clung to so I could rediscover what He planted in me all along.
Now, I create from that place of restoration.
My purpose is to tell honest stories, honor emotion, and reflect the sacred in the everyday.
And I carry that with me in every piece I make—because I know what it feels like to be lost, and I know what it means to be found.
“I found my purpose not at the height of my success—but in the quiet, broken places where God met me with creativity and called me back to life.”
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a moody lover with an artistic soul—faith-centered and deeply drawn to emotion, light, and the quiet beauty that lives in everyday moments. I’m a multi-disciplinary artist based in San Antonio, Texas, blending photography, drawing, and nostalgic storytelling to create with purpose and intention.
My work is rooted in faith. After walking through burnout and depression, God used creativity to restore me—reviving not just my artistry, but my purpose. Now, I create from a place of healing. Every session, every sketch, every frame is a reflection of that restoration.
I have the honor of creating with couples, families, and women through intimate boudoir experiences—spaces that feel sacred, safe, and full of truth. Whether it’s capturing the unspoken connection between parents and children, the sacred bond of love between two people, or the quiet strength of a woman reclaiming her story—I approach it all with the same heart: to see and to reflect what is God-given and beautiful.
Recently, I’ve expanded into Super 8 film, a dreamy, nostalgic format that allows me to offer slow, cinematic storytelling as an add-on for my sessions. It’s like watching memory in motion—and it’s quickly become one of my favorite mediums to work in.
At the center of it all is this:
Creating honest, soulful art that reflects light—even in the shadows.
I’m here for the deeply personal, the imperfectly beautiful, the moments that speak quietly but stay forever.
If you’re someone who values truth, connection, and art that feels like worship—we’ll make something meaningful together.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three qualities have been absolutely vital in my journey: surrender, consistency, and setting boundaries.
Surrender
The most powerful shift in my life happened when I stopped trying to force everything into place and allowed God to lead. When I surrendered the pressure to constantly produce or meet expectations, I found peace—and purpose. It was in that stillness that God reignited my creativity and gave me clarity.
Advice: Trust the process, even when it feels slow. You don’t have to figure it all out. Surrender doesn’t mean you’re giving up—it means you’re making room for God to do what only He can.
Consistency
You don’t need to go viral, or have it all figured out to grow—you just have to keep showing up. There were seasons where I didn’t feel inspired or confident, but I stayed committed to my craft. Over time, those small, quiet efforts created momentum and depth.
Advice: Keep going. Practice even when it’s not perfect. Your discipline will take you further than your motivation ever could.
Setting Boundaries
This was one of the hardest lessons for me. As a creative (and a helper by nature), I used to say yes to everything—out of guilt, fear, or the pressure to prove myself. But that led to burnout really quick, learning to slow down, rest, and protect my peace has been essential.
Advice: You do not have to take on everything. Saying “no” doesn’t make you less professional or less kind—it makes you sustainable. Pace yourself. Prioritize what truly aligns with your purpose.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Community!
One of the most impactful parts of my journey has been the community I’ve found in this industry—especially the photographers I’ve built genuine, lasting friendships with. We’ve supported each other through the highs and lows, and it’s been a true example of community over competition.
There’s something powerful about being surrounded by creatives who not only inspire you, but who also share knowledge, cheer you on, and walk alongside you in both business and life. That, along with my life group, has given me a deep sense of support and accountability.
Networking has opened doors—but community is what’s helped me walk through them with confidence and purpose.
