Meet Alyx Coble-Frakes

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alyx Coble-Frakes a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alyx, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

For self-care, I practice cycle awareness — meaning I track and honor the natural hormonal shifts that occur throughout my menstrual cycle. I’ve learned to recognize that my energy, focus, and communication style ebb and flow across the month, and I plan accordingly. For example, I schedule creative brainstorming and collaboration during my follicular and ovulatory phases, and I reserve my luteal and menstrual phases for reflection, strategy, and wrap-up work.

This practice has completely transformed my effectiveness. Instead of pushing through fatigue or self-criticizing when my energy dips, I now work with my body instead of against it. I’m more productive, more empathetic in how I lead and communicate, and I’ve noticed my stress levels and burnout risk have dropped significantly. Cycle awareness has helped me create a rhythm that supports both my wellbeing and my performance — which ultimately benefits my entire team.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m the founder of The Agenda., a company dedicated to helping women and menstruators sync their lives to their cycles so they can feel more in flow; physically, emotionally, and mentally. What excites me most about this work is watching people shift from seeing their hormones as something to battle, to understanding them as one of their greatest sources of power and insight.

Through our products like Your Cycle Circle, The Agenda. Planner, Journal, and our app, we teach cycle awareness as a form of self-care and personal leadership. It’s about reclaiming rhythm in a world that often demands constant output. When you learn to honor your natural phases, everything from your productivity to your relationships begins to feel more aligned.

Right now, we’re expanding that mission through The Period Coaching Certification, which trains practitioners, educators, and leaders to integrate cycle awareness into their own work and communities. We’re also supporting Employee Resource Groups and corporate wellness initiatives by helping organizations understand how menstrual health impacts productivity, retention, and overall wellbeing in the workplace.

It’s such an exciting time because businesses and leaders are finally recognizing that menstrual health is not a niche topic — it’s foundational to whole-person health, equity, and performance. Being part of that cultural and organizational shift feels incredibly powerful.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three qualities that have had the greatest impact on my journey are self-awareness, resilience, and vision.

Self-awareness has been the foundation; and for me, that’s deeply connected to cycle awareness. Learning to understand my own rhythms, limits, and strengths allowed me to make aligned decisions and lead from a grounded place. I always tell others: start by listening to your body. It’s giving you real-time data about what you need to thrive.

Resilience came from learning how to rest as much as I work. Entrepreneurship and social impact work both have cycles, expansion and contraction, push and pause, and the more I respected that flow, the more sustainable my impact became. My advice here is to redefine productivity: it’s not about constant output, it’s about consistent alignment.

And finally, vision. Holding a big picture for menstrual health in a world that often ignores it requires conviction and creativity. If you’re early in your journey, stay curious, surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you, and let your “why” evolve as you do.

When you pair inner awareness with outer action, your work naturally becomes more authentic, impactful, and fulfilling.
