Meet Aman Chopra

We recently connected with Aman Chopra and have shared our conversation below.

Aman, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

I have always embraced it, I consider it a gift to be the only one that feels like me or even looks like me. It makes me adaptable and give others the space to explore something out of their own space and it also gives me the opportunity to express to people who might not be like me and challenge myself to navigate and succeed in any realm of the world

I thrive in being different

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am an international public speaking coach and comedian, and my mission is to help people from all walks of life become the best speakers they can be. Whether it’s a 9-year-old overcoming social anxiety or a 59-year-old preparing for a TED Talk, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals at every stage of their speaking journey. Over the years, I’ve coached world-class speakers, helping them elevate their skills and discover new dimensions in their ability to connect with audiences.

What excites me most about this work is how speaking transcends industries and connects people everywhere. Communication is fundamental to everything we do. Whether I’m working with doctors, language teachers, or business executives, the art of speaking is a universal tool. Each industry has its own style of expression, and I’m deeply grateful to be able to explore and contribute to so many diverse fields through this work.

I began coaching public speaking almost five years ago. Since then, my journey has evolved, and so have I. I’m now a stand-up comedian who performs on stage regularly—sharing jokes, making people laugh, and learning to embrace both successes and failures along the way. Comedy has been an incredible teacher, reminding me that failing often and getting back up is the heart of growth.

This year, my career has taken an exciting turn. I’m performing comedy gigs across the U.S., beyond NYC, and internationally in the UK and Canada. One of my proudest accomplishments is creating and performing in the world’s first AI x Comedy live show. This unique project, where AI and humans collaborated on stage, was inspired by my background in engineering and sparked my passion for stand-up. It’s been a wild and rewarding journey combining innovation and entertainment.

Right now, I’m in a period of growth and expansion, touring globally for both public speaking and comedy. I’m driven by a dual mission: helping people become their most authentic selves through speaking while pushing myself to be just as authentic and expressed on stage and online.

If you want to find out what I’m up to right now—which is always dynamic—you can connect with me on social media @thechopstr or visit my website, www.thechopstr.com I’m excited to share my journey and continue helping others find their voice and live boldly—whether through speaking, laughing, or both.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Here’s a refined and polished version of your response tailored to the question:

Looking back, the three qualities or skills that had the greatest impact on my journey are:

1. Relentless Execution and Resilience
There’s an overwhelming amount of information out there, but the real transformation happens through action, not just learning. I could have read every book on comedy or public speaking, but nothing truly clicked until I put myself out there, performed, failed repeatedly, and learned through those experiences. I’ve had terrible sets, coaching sessions that didn’t land, and moments of complete silence on stage. It was painful, but those failures were the foundation of my growth. The ability to show up, fail, and try again—day after day—was absolutely essential. My advice: Don’t be afraid to step into the arena, even if it’s messy and uncomfortable. That’s where the real progress happens.

2. Building a Supportive Network
Having the right people in my corner made all the difference. Early on, I realized that if someone didn’t believe in my vision, they didn’t need to be part of it. Trying to please everyone is a losing game. Instead, I focused on pursuing my goals with authenticity, and in doing so, I not only found happiness but often saw the attitudes of skeptics shift over time. Surround yourself with people who genuinely support and uplift you. My father and my best friends have been instrumental in helping me stay grounded and motivated. When you march to the beat of your own drum, you’ll inspire others to join the rhythm as you grow.

3. Self-Reflection and Emotional Clarity
I journal every day. Writing helps me document my thoughts, process my emotions, and reflect on why I’m pursuing my chosen path. I also work with a therapist, which has been invaluable in uncovering my deeper motivations and guiding me through challenges. Understanding myself on a core level has allowed me to stay aligned with my goals, even as they evolve. These practices have given me the tools and clarity to pursue big dreams—dreams that have now taken me across the globe to perform and coach in ways I could have only imagined.

For those starting out, I’d recommend embracing failure as a stepping stone, surrounding yourself with people who truly believe in you, and taking time to understand your deeper “why.”

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

Everything. Every Single Thing.

Traditional Indian parents often have a reputation for deciding their children’s career paths—something that comes from a place of guidance and good intention. While my parents were always stressed about my future (like all parents are), they never imposed their own vision onto me. Instead, they gave me the freedom to pursue what I truly wanted and created the infrastructure to help me thrive in it.

One of the most defining moments of this support was in high school when I chose Theatre Arts over Chemistry. It wasn’t the typical path, but I excelled, graduating in the top 1% globally in that class. Instead of pressuring me toward a “safer” choice, my parents encouraged me to follow my instincts. They didn’t just allow me to chase my passion—they actively supported it, ensuring I had the right environment to grow.

Their belief in me has been the most impactful thing they ever did. It gave me the confidence to carve my own path, take risks, and build a life and career that truly aligns with who I am.
