We recently connected with Amanda Castrillo and have shared our conversation below.
Amanda, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Developing confidence and self-esteem is still an ongoing journey for me. I’ve built a lot of confidence by not being afraid to show up as myself. As in, I’m comfortable going out without makeup on or my hair done. I love fashion and dressing up, but I make sure to spend enough time with myself without all of that. I make sure I dress up because I personally enjoy it, not because I won’t feel pretty if I don’t.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Amanda Castrillo and I am a content creator/social producer, I primarily make content about movies, TV, and general commentary under my handle @amandajustvibin. I started content creating in 2020 during the pandemic after I got furloughed from my retail job. Even after I went back, I kept making videos and building a following. Eventually I quit my retail job started working at Paramount as a social producer. I still continued doing my own thing on my page. Being a content creator has afforded me the opportunity to work alongside people in the entertainment industry that I admire. I’ve been fortunate enough to attend red carpet events and early movie screenings.
As someone who writes and wishes to one day produce my own movies and TV shows, I’m so grateful to have access to these spaces in a way I otherwise would not have been able to.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most impactful qualities in my journey were persistence, consistency, and building connections. My best advice is to hold yourself accountable, ask others who are doing what you want to do how they did it, and don’t be afraid to be “annoying.”
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I’m overwhelmed, it’s typically because I’m simultaneously doing too much while feeling like I’m not doing enough. I have to bring myself back to reality and remind myself that it’s okay to need a break. I watch my comfort shows or something that gets my brain working again. I’ve gotten into audiobooks. I also have to remind myself that it’s okay to do nothing.
