Meet Amanda Goodwin

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amanda Goodwin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Amanda, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

I find Inspiration in Everything. I mean Everything. If you knew how many photos I’ve taken over the years of light fixtures, you might understand…LoL. I can’t help but find colors, shapes, patterns, lights and so many other things fascinating. And that’s just things I can see…

We live in a world full of interesting people, places and things. If you aren’t inspired by any of that, then you’re not paying attention! I keep a spreadsheet and other forms of notes to help me remember all the ideas I want to find time for later. I’m never bored. I can’t seem to create fast enough. The ideas come faster than I can make use of them. I don’t know how many times I’ve woken up from a dead sleep with an idea that I have to get up and write down before I forget!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I am a researcher by nature. I ask lots of questions. One question always leads to another. I love to learn new things, so this has been quite the adventure. I try to learn something new everyday. Because why not?
My advice is to Research. Go down the rabbit holes of information. You can learn anything you want to know if you ask the right questions. Become a sponge.

Skill sets are like fingerprints; no two are alike. I have developed an ability to do many things. I don’t do them all well, but I’ve definitely added to my list of things I might want to try to learn to do better later and what I’d like to avoid ever doing again! So try new things, if you fail, so what? If you try it and like it, you might have discovered your next adventure…

Areas of knowledge I am so not interested in, but would be trememndously helpful to enjoy or be efficient in, are Marketing & Social Media. I guess if you’re looking to make your passion profitable, you gotta think like a Finance guy & Communicate like a teenage girl ~ I’m not good at either one, but that doesn’t bother me!

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

My current obstacle is a lack of space to paint and create. Lots of changes in my world at the moment, so I am pivoting by diversifying. I’m able to utilize images I’ve previously created and turn them into coordinating items for the Globetrotter Adventure Collection!

We now offer story books, activity books, alphabet & multilingual number flash cards, posters, playing cards for all the popular card games, jigsaw puzzles and computer games! There’s more items coming and a new theme on the way as well, so stay tuned! Follow the Adventure on social media and watch for announcements!
