Meet Amanda Jane Snyder

We were lucky to catch up with Amanda Jane Snyder recently and have shared our conversation below.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
After experiencing a debilitating injury of my own back in 2014, I knew something needed to change, not just for myself, but for the resources and guidance offered to other Actors, Singers, and Dancers like myself. Artists are athletes and they should be treated as such. Every professional athlete has a Strength and Conditioning Coach training them off the field, so they can be the best they can be ON the field. That is what I do for artists and actors. With my specific knowledge in Strength and Conditioning and Lifting for Performance, I am more than just getting you in shape. Exercise and nutrition is tailored towards the demands of your career. No more injuries, no more quick fixes.

I’ve worked with countless dancers, actors, and artists of all types who have struggled with the demands that this career requires of our bodies AND minds. They now have the tools they need to train and optimize performance while off-season, during audition season, and while on the road performing.

Actors are Athletes! Train like one! I’m always looking to help more artists, whether that’s through my one-on-one training, or whether it’s through my training programs. Depending on my availability, we’ll find the best option for you.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Mindset. Oftentimes our mind is what’s holding us back. If we can change our mindset, we can change our life.

Resilience. Resiliency is the ability to make mistakes, fall down, fail and still get back up and keep going. This skill allows you to pivot, problem solve, and navigate the inevitable ups and downs.

Creativity and Innovation. Don’t be afraid to challenge the status quo with your creative, and innovative ideas. A lot of people STILL don’t understand the concept of Actors as Athletes, but that doesn’t stop me.

For those that are just getting started on their journey, my advice for building these is to have mentors who have paved the path before you even if it’s as simple as having a consistent reading practice. There are a lot of resources out there nowadays with brilliant minds behind it all. Follow, engage, and seek out help from those who are doing it!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m currently working one-on-one with artists. I love it! But I would love to widen my network to reach more people. I’d love to collaborate with Broadway shows, Colleges and Universities, Dance studios and Conservatories, and other fitness professionals who are looking to impact the artist community.
