Meet Amanda Job

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda Job. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda below.

Hi Amanda, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

That’s easy, my resilience comes from my parents!

Growing up, I had the privilege of seeing them battle through and conquer various life obstacles. Their actions taught me, and still teach me, more than words ever could.

Funny enough my mom just celebrated her birthday, and while giving her her flowers I said “thank you for teaching me perseverance and to always get up no matter how many times I fall.” No matter how many times life knocked her down, she always found the will to get back up. It is her ability to keep moving forward one step at a time, regardless of the setbacks, that instilled a sense of determination in me.

My dad always maintains an unshakable calm in the face of challenges. His “I’ll figure it out” mentality shows me that no problem is unbeatable as long as you stay composed and focus on finding a solution.

My parents taught me the true meaning of resilience and I carry that with me every day.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Yummalish Treats began as a personal project for my daughter’s third birthday, where I made cake pops and various treats for the celebration. They received such rave reviews from friends and family that it sparked the idea to start a business.

Over time, Yummalish Treats has evolved to include a variety of specialty offerings, including wedding and celebration cakes. I expanded into treatable catering for events, and I’ve also created a line of branded kitchen utensils.

As a full-time teacher, I’ve always had a passion for sharing knowledge. It just made sense to merge that with my love for baking when I started offering classes last year. It has been such a rewarding experience to watch others learn new techniques while sharing my skills in this hands-on way.

I’m excited to share that Yummalish Treats has levelled up even further, now offering corporate orders! This allows me to cater unique treats to a wider audience, including business events and corporate gifting. It is a big step forward for me, and I’m really excited!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey thus far are adaptability, creativity, and time management.

1. Adaptability: The entrepreneur business landscape is always changing, and being flexible has been key to my growth. Whether it was expanding into corporate orders, or launching classes, being open to new opportunities has allowed me to pivot and adapt the business as needed.

2. Creativity: Creativity has been at the heart of everything I do, from developing new treat ideas to finding new ways to expand. For those at the beginning of the journey, I would advise you to embrace your creativity and not be afraid to try new things. Maximize on that which makes you different. Don’t be afraid to push boundaries!

3. Time Management: Balancing a full-time job with running a business has been challenging to say the least. However, I’ve been learning how to maximize my time and streamline tasks. I’ve had to be mindful about using an efficient production schedule that fits my lifestyle, along with scheduling meetings and personal time. For those starting out, I recommend setting your priorities,
self care should be at the top, and scheduling time in reasonable chunks to help you achieve them.

In addition to these, consistency and a customer-centered mindset have been key. Consistently delivering high-quality products and service has helped me build trust and a strong reputation for my business.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client appreciates quality, creativity, and attention to detail. Whether for a custom cake or unique treats, they value the time and artistry behind each creation. They’re open to collaboration, clear in their expectations, and understand the value of my handcrafted, personalized products. Most importantly, they enjoy the process, trusting me to bring their vision to life and value the experience as much as the final product.
