We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda Lien. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda below.
Amanda, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
It might sound cheesy, but being willing to set aside caring what people may or may not think about you has done wonders for my confidence and self-esteem. I spent so much of my adolescence worried about what people might be thinking or saying about me –– when, in reality, none of that mattered because they weren’t saying it to my face! Giving myself the freedom to go about my business and do my best to leave a positive impact behind everywhere I go was life-giving.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the founder of Minutiae Content Co., a writing and strategy firm specializing in authentic thought leadership and marketing content for B2B and tech founders, entrepreneurs, and small businesses. I craft social media copy, blog posts, contributed articles and case studies that underscore brand and company impact without undercutting the hard work and personalities behind the screens.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Empathy. I like to say that marketing is all about people finding the most impactful ways to talk to other people. You can’t do that without a high EQ and a lot of empathy!
2. Research. A solid set of research skills will get you extremely far in marketing, B2B content writing, and life! If you know how to research something, you know how to deeply embed someone else’s expertise into the way you write.
3. Humility. Knowing what you don’t know and asking questions to bridge that gap requires a deep well of humility from which to draw. While it can feel embarrassing or uncomfortable to not know all the answers, it’s perfectly human to need to take a pause, research something, or ask those around you for help and support.
How would you describe your ideal client?
I love working with clients who know they have something to say and need help saying it, or who are open to building a strategy around their core areas of expertise so we can craft meaningful, impactful content that speaks to who they are, what they know, and who they serve!
