Meet Amanda Lindsey

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda Lindsey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda below.

Hi Amanda, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

Generosity, for me, is about giving without expecting anything in return—whether that’s my time, my attention, my resources, or just a kind word. It’s not about grand gestures, but the little acts of care that help others feel seen and valued. I believe generosity is a way of connecting with people and the world around me, showing that I care and want to make a positive impact. Even if I don’t always feel joy, I’m driven by a deep sense of empathy and a belief in the ripple effect—understanding that small acts of kindness or support can create larger, meaningful change over time. It’s not always about the immediate reward, but knowing that my actions can have a lasting impact, even if I don’t see it right away. I do it because I believe it’s the right thing to do, and I trust in the power of those ripples to make a difference.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Recently featured on the hit TV show Penn and Teller: Fool Us — my name is Amanda Lindsey and I’m a magician. I create interactive, engaging magic experiences for all ages, whether it’s a child’s birthday party, a corporate event, a wedding, or a comedy venue. My goal is to spark connection, curiosity, and joy through every performance.

What makes my work special is the focus on authenticity and heart. Magic is more than just tricks—it’s a way to bring people together, make them laugh, and remind them of the wonder in the world. I’ve been featured in magic magazines around the globe, and I’ve made appearances on Channels 2, 4, and 5, More To Say with Randi Naughton, and live segments with Dani Glover and John Carney.

You can book me for private events, weddings, and I also offer unique entertainment packages—like my interactive birthday party show or The Ultimate Team-Building Package. This experience is one-of-a-kind in St. Louis: it combines comedy, magic, and a meaningful message about the 4 C’s of Magic—Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication. Before the grand finale, participants break into small groups and take on a series of escape-box-style challenges that require teamwork and problem-solving using the 4 C’s. There’s truly nothing else like it offered in STL.

In addition to private bookings, I’m the resident magician at two local venues: Luvwoo Bar, where I perform every First Friday, and Magic Mini Golf, where you can find me every First Sunday of the month. Both are fantastic ways to experience close-up magic in a fun, laid-back atmosphere.

Something I’m especially proud of is the charitable side of my work. All earnings from Facebook’s rewards program go directly to animal charities, and a percentage of every show or booking is donated as well. I currently support the Imperial Animal Hospital Care Fund and Speak Rescue and Sanctuary, two organizations doing incredible work for animals in need.

You can follow me on social media @magicamanda87 on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, and check out my videos and behind-the-scenes content on YouTube at MagicAmanda. I’m always working on new ways to share meaningful, memorable magic—and I’m grateful for every opportunity to connect through it.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, curiosity, and empathy.

Resilience has kept me going in a field where rejection, self-doubt, and comparison are common. Not every show is perfect, not every trick lands—and that’s okay. What matters is that you keep showing up, improving, and remembering why you started. In tough moments, I remind myself: this shall pass. And it always does.

Curiosity has been the fuel. I’m constantly studying—not just magic, but psychology, communication, and storytelling. The more I learn, the more I realize how interconnected everything is. If you stay curious, you’ll keep growing—and you’ll never get bored.

Empathy is what makes my magic meaningful. I’m not trying to fool people for the sake of being clever—I’m trying to make them feel something. Whether it’s wonder, laughter, or connection, that only happens when you understand and care about your audience.

For anyone starting out: be patient with yourself. Surround yourself with people who uplift you and give you honest feedback. Watch and learn from others, but don’t lose your voice trying to imitate them. And most importantly, let your values show in your work. That’s what makes it uniquely yours. And when things get hard? Just breathe and remember: this shall pass.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely—I’m always open to collaborating, especially with people who lead with heart and creativity. I’m drawn to folks who are passionate about storytelling, community building, education, and creating experiences that leave people better than they found them. That includes fellow performers, educators, nonprofits, event organizers, and content creators who value authenticity and impact over ego.

I’m especially excited to connect with people doing meaningful work in youth engagement, animal welfare, mental wellness, and arts and education. And truly—anyone who’s up for a good cause. If you’re about creating positive ripple effects in your community, I’m all in. Let’s team work.

Collaboration to me is about alignment. If we’re both trying to create something that makes people feel connected, curious, or inspired, we’re probably a great fit.
