Meet Amanda & Michael Ferrari

We were lucky to catch up with Amanda & Michael Ferrari recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda & Michael, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

I overcame it with time.

When we rolled out Season 1 of our flower and bread cart in 2024, I had no idea what to expect. I was still learning the ropes of flower farming, making mistakes left and right, and I even nudged Michael into offering his bread before either of us felt ready. Those first weekends were nerve-wracking—but then our neighbors showed up. Their encouragement helped us find our footing and we slowly grew more comfortable.

Still, that first season was a whirlwind. Afterwards I made a decision: if we were going to keep doing this we needed a plan. I treated the cart like a true business. With a year-long roadmap in place, Michael and I grew more confident heading into Season 2, and our visitors knew exactly what to expect each weekend.

Now, as we wrap up this second season of Ferrari Flours, I’m eager to revisit the plan, refine it, and strengthen the foundation for what comes next.

Imposter syndrome doesn’t disappear overnight. But through study, practice, and leaning into the natural rhythm of the seasons, we’ve found a way to grow alongside our cart.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

We run Ferrari Flours, a small but mighty flower and bread cart we lovingly call Georgie. Each weekend, Georgie is stocked with freshly cut flowers (grown from seed) and homemade bread baked right in our kitchen. What makes it special is the pairing—two handmade, seasonal offerings that we hope bring people together.

Ferrari Flours began from two parallel passions. My love for flowers since childhood—bouquets after dance recitals, weekly blooms in different apartments, and eventually, training through the University of Vermont Master Gardeners program and the Floret workshop. Though my career path led to politics and public relations, the dream of flower farming never faded.

Michael’s story began with baking bread for our three kids. What started as two loaves a week grew quickly, as friends and neighbors asked for more. He is constantly working on his country sourdough loaf, experimenting with different recipes and ratios, and enjoying sharing his bread with others.

Now, as we wrap up our second season of rolling out blooms and bread on the weekends, we’re looking ahead. This winter, we’ll refine our plans, sharpen our crafts, and prepare for spring with new energy. Long term, we envision Ferrari Flours becoming a fixture our community can count on, while continuing to explore creative ways to share flowers and fresh bread.

At its heart, Ferrari Flours is more than just a weekend cart—it’s about creating a space where neighbors can re-connect and feel a true sense of community.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Here are three areas that really helped Ferrari Flours get off the ground.

1) Creativity and Vision: Whether it’s figuring out which flowers to stock the DIY Bouquet Bar with or trying out a new sourdough recipe, we rely on creativity to keep things fresh and exciting. It’s about seeing the possibilities and imagining what will bring our neighbors joy each weekend.

2) Organization and Planning: Running Georgie takes a lot of prep—from planting and bloom schedules to baking and inventory. Staying organized helps us show up consistently and make sure every visit feels effortless for our neighbors.

Community Connection: At the heart of what we do is people. Listening, engaging, and learning about what resonates with our community is key.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

The person who has been most helpful to me in overcoming challenges is Michael. His support has been constant—from encouraging me to take creative risks to helping me stay grounded when things feel overwhelming. He’s my sounding board, my motivator, and often the gentle nudge I need to push past doubt. Running Ferrari Flours is a team effort, but his belief in me and in what we’re building has made all the difference. I honestly don’t think I could have grown in confidence or skill without him by my side every step of the way.
